Price CCU

I need help pricing this. Please don’t tell me not to do it because I seriously need the money. Different prices for outside and inside. Just finishingconstruction, but the windows arent that bad. He wants me to start on it very soon and finish by Friday. Supposed to rain. The next few days and he is slammed. He also wants the frames washed so if you guys could give me an idea about that I would appreciate it. No tinting on windows.

Hey there! Glad to be of assistance here. How many windows/panes total? I got lost halfway because of all the numbers you were throwing out there lol.

Same. It’s just kinda difficult to keep it in order. …man that’s going to be a tough one. And it also depends on how bad the ccu debris is. That’s a lot of glass.

As far as different pricing just stick to Inside and Out. Exterior only cleans on new builds don’t make much of a difference and in the end both you & client won’t be happy with the results. What I can say is determine what your hourly rate is and then also ask & calculate how many hours or days you’ll be there working on the glass. Then times your hourly rate by those hours and you should get an indication of where you at. Honestly that’s a beast of job so make sure your prepared for it. I see a lot of guys that bite off more than they can chew and in the end they max themselves out of a job. I’m not saying don’t take it because obviously you stated you need it but make sure your mentally & physically prepared for something of that magnitude.

Really hard to give a price with no exact pane/window count. If you get that number then we can assist you numbers wise.

The thing I’m not sure how to count the panes. I mean there are frames over some of it and the other portion has different panes, but they’re sort of mortared together. Some of them are mortared and still within frames. I don’t know how to give a quote, but I’ll try. Let me look at the videos.

@Luke and @gpproservices, the exterior panes I come up with are 416 and interior without an exterior side are 132 (or 680 sides I would have to clean).

I’m quoting the exterior separate from the interior because he doesn’t know if we have time to clean the exterior before the open house which is Friday at 1:30 pm. I’m also going to quote the frames because he wanted them cleaned and I need to have a quote for him. Thanks guys.

I’m going to give you my honest advice. I’d be at least between 2 - 3.5k maybe more. I dont know how bad the windows are . I know you need the work but that is a lot. And that’s just windows, not including detailing the frames.

These jobs can turn into nightmares very quickly , especially if you didnt take time to touch and inspect each window. I’ve made this mistake several times, just running through and counting and not really paying attention to how much ccu debris is on the glass. Then the job takes way longer to clean.

That’s what I was about to say… He has to be prepared to take on something this big. Biting off more than you can chew can cost you dearly.

I’d be high no matter what. If he says no then you might have dodged a bullet. And then on top of this, if you dont have a lot of experience in ccu there could be liability issues. I’m just being honest. I know you said you need the money, but be careful.

Based off of 680 sides to clean I’m looking somewhere between 4k to 5k. This includes cleaning the glass professionally and also detailing frames. It honestly depends on how bad they are but I know for sure it’s going to be very time consuming. If it were me I’d think twice before taking this one, not that I don’t want it but taking everything into consideration.

Take into account:

  • Hours or days consumed on site
  • Possible Liability issues
  • Condition of glass
  • Your hourly rate
  • Their time frame for opening.

Agree 100%… Sometimes a No can be a life saver. Honestly I know he needs it but imagine something happens ( God forbid ) and then boom your slapped with a liability that you cant afford. Huge commercial places like this have liability written all over them. Not saying don’t take it but be wise.

It’s actually 1,092 sides. The 680 was just for the interior.

Thanks, guys. I’m going to high ball him and let him decide. A sincere thanks.

Agreed around 10 per window would be ideal.

Well In that case based on 1092 sides your in the 8k to 10k range ideally.

I gave an estimate for $4,500 interior, $3,000 exterior, $1,500 interior frame cleaning and $1,500 exterior frame cleaning. Totals $10,500. I honestly don’t mind spending a month on this thing, I just want to be compensated for my time.

I was just basing it off the 680…but whatever :rofl::sweat_smile:

Lol right :joy:
