Xero Screen Cleaner

Just wondering how often everyone who owns one is using the Xero screen cleaner?

  1. What is the minimum number of screens you will set it up for?
  2. Have you noticed any damage to flimsy screens?
  3. Do you find it to be a ;
    a) time saver on larger jobs
    b) better quality finish than mop/towel
    c) both
    D neither

  1. we set up the xero (aztec screen washer) on each residential job. There is no minimum because a home has whatever screens are in the windows for the home.
  2. No damage to flimsy screens. That is usually an opportunity to upsell new screens. Window screens are a natural and good compliment to window cleaning. You are already there and most people are too busy to deal with them.
  3. it does save time on larger jobs. It also does a good job of cleaning the screens with more consistency. Much better than doing it with a mop/towel. For 1 it gets the mops dirty and the mop usually can’t do a better job than the screen washer.
I have owned both the IPC/Pulex screen washer and also the aztec/xero. I prefer the xero/aztec.
We have put hoses and QD’s on our screen washer. We have a soap dispenser as well. This is to streamline the process and add productivity. Try to automate the process as much as you can, less steps, less moves less time fiddling with hose connections and what not means more profitable job. Hope this helps. Call me anytime if you need a hand.
We have also used the screen washer to clean removable vinyl porch panels. They are popular in Florida. We do quite a few of those and scrub the fixed screen with the WFP water.

@M_Lewis Thank you so much for the solid reply!
The only question I have is what did u mean by putting hose/qd’s on the screen washer and is the soap dispenser an after market add on like u would use on a pressure washer?

Love the screen washer, big difference in how well they clean up and time savings. Plus you look even more professional. I just have a pump sprayer with some cleaner in it and pre spray the screens before running them through the washer, we love it.

We use it on almost every job. If its say 5 screens or less we might just go those with the wfp or a mop and towel. But a huge time saver and the customers love it! Does a better job of cleaning them imo and has not damaged any screens. Now if you have a bent or damaged screen I wouldnt recommend running it through the washer.

We attached a hose and quick disconnects to the screen washer and our WFP cart. When we arrive at a home first hose man runs the WFP supply to connect and the second hose man runs to another hose bib and attaches the screen washer and unfolds it. The hose stays on the screen washer and the qd’s save time connecting the hose.
There is an eye bolt attached to the top of the screen washer. It holds a small soap bottle that you can squeeze a little soap on the screen and run it through. We put it on the aluminum frame didn’t come with it from supplier.
We also re-routed the R/O discharge line from the WFP to a drain line. We use that drain line to fill buckets, bottles and sprayers with water for cleaning inside and storing up soapy water for route work.

Agree completely with your comment. We typically don’t get jobs with 5 or less screens.

Thank you everyone! I am keen as to get one but can’t find anyone that ships to Australia? Can anyone point me in the right direction? I tried wcr but they don’t ship to Aus. Is three much difference between the Aztec and the Xero? I can get the Aztec in Aus…

None that I know of other then the sticker, I believe that’s the case.

Peter has some.

Thanks @JaredAI I had located them and just wanted to make sure the Aztec wasn’t the old model. I’m going to get one this week if I get paid from an outstanding account :ok_hand:

Yup, they’re the same. The Australian ones have the quick connect fitting on them.

Thanks Luke!
What is your policy on bent broken screens? Gentle hand clean or replace if the customer requires?
I like fitting screens when u get a whole bunch of them and you have actually done a screen in a while. I don’t push the service but feel I should be mentioning it more as if u are quick it is good money and more satisfying for the customer and yourself as a window cleaner to have good quality screens to clean.
Even though u try to apply the same high standard to every job it’s never as enjoyable to work on etched/stained windows with damaged frames and screens. It almost feels like you want to just get it over with rather than really enjoying your work and the clarity you have provided to a home owner/business and if your a bit ocd then it is never clean/good enough and you want/need to mention how bad the condition of the glass is to the homeowner but don’t want to spoil their delight!

With bent frames and ripped screens I usually just pass on cleaning them unless the customer insists. Then we will gently clean them a dry brush and a wet or damp towel .

The Aztec screen cleaner will pay for it self on one house. Windows 101 has the best deal on them $299 includes shipping.

There’s nothing wrong with a minimum charge for screen cleaning. I use to do it all the time.
