Ughhhhh!! Helpful tips? Lol
Start moving smooth not fast. Learn the two handed technique for sure, however a local window cleaner told me sometimes just do the window in sections if it’s too big. It does work but it requires you to spend more time on a window. If the soap dries too quick it’s going to let you know how fast you need to move.
Also wet the glass with a standard soap applicator, the moerman fliq pads don’t hold a ton of water and right now you need a ton of water with soap on the glass so it takes longer to dry up.
Yeah I def have found that wetting the fliq pad more often helps. Bigger windows I been doing the top first then the bottom half. I def need another excelerator but an 18 inch one … something I can use without the pad. I love using it to squeegee… it’s so effective. I’m also going to need some hard liquidator rubber for sure.
I The regular soap applicators hold more soap water in the sleeve. The fliq pads are thin, that was the only reason I suggested it to you.
I’m finding I’m leaving a lot less lines with the 18 inch ettore super channel with the unger ninja handle with the unger hard rubber. Sometimes I will put in the ettore master rubber. The moerman lineup is great but switch up your tools often so you become good with all of them. The legend channel might be up your alley because they have the same dog tag edges as the moerman channel.
Glass gleam has wetting agent added to help the window stay wet longer.
Where can I find this glass gleam @Johnlee ?
John is right it does help. I always suggest the two handed Technique . Imo this will help the most!
I seen a post somewhere on Facebook yesterday, they were putting ice in the bucket and it was working good. But some people said it would crack the windows. But others was saying they have done it for years and it has been ok.
but there is a chance that it could fracture a window I suppose . The other thing is two handed technique and gg4. But I have been hearing that gg4 is not good with slip for your squeegee. Maybe a shot of Mormon squeeze deluxe in with it would be ok.
I use gg4 with a tiny bit of dawn dish soap. I know some people like it with ecover dish soap. I have used it with the moerman soap before. The difference of improvement was small but there is a smell that comes with the moerman soap I didn’t like.
I dont think I’d put ice in the bucket. It kind of the same idea of cleaning cold windows in the winter with hot water. Sounds like a cracked window waiting to happen.
Gg4 does keep the windows more wet for longer , we have tried it. You could always just add a little gg4 to your normal solution for those situations. We still just use dawn. For us we like to keep it simple. If the window is really hot , re wet your mop and give the window a really good mopping. Work fast and use both hands and you should be ok.
For high windows in direct sunlight I use a modified Unger Vice Versa on a pole. I took off the 18" Unger channel and added a 22" sorbo channel. I took off the basic mop head and added the Unger solid green micro fiber mop head. This let’s me soak the top of one window at a time and immediately squeegee it.(I could soak a lot more if it’s not direct sunlight)
After the tops are done, I wet smaller sections of the big window and quickly squeegee it. Still a pain to do, so on houses I make notes about where the sun rises and sets so I can start the job in a way that avoids the sun. And on route work I sometimes hit a job in the afternoon or the morning based on what direction it faces if it has a lot of Pole work.
I use fliq just fine here in Reno…just gotta fast and the mop need to be freshly dunked everytime.
In fact, it’s how I gotten good with fliq on the pole…

Never had issues with lower windows and evaporation.
For upper windows, I use an Ettore Backflip (actually I use it for just about anything). For really high windows, you do not have time to wet, bring down, put on squeegee, go back up now it’s dry. A backflip lets me stay up.
Also, try wetting the window twice before squeegeeing. The first wetting absorbs the heat and the second lasts longer. If you must, clean half the window at a time.
Oh, and don’t use too much soap! Very soapy water evaporates faster.
I don’t yet have a WFP, but I would like to know if evaporation is an issue with wfp as well?
Yes evaporation can cause a problem with a wfp if you rinse to fast. The water will evaporate before it has time to rinse the debris off. The fix is to take smaller rinse bits.
Good to know Dan… I def use a lot of soap so that’s more than likely part of the issue. Im still trying to find that sweet spot. But I like soapy ! I use ettore squeegee off and dawn soap, sometimes I use both together in the mix…
We are in Austin, WFP for residential, especially second floor and if doing trad, move like the clappers GG4 and a slip product with light soap works really well and as a couple of people have said thetwo handed method and a qtr of the glass at a time…
