Who worked today?

I saw @SteveO was working. We cleaned two homes today, nothing too crazy. Who else was at it today?

I did two houses today too, home by 1:30. I don’t mind if I get to start early enough.

I work Sundays often. I usually do 1 or 2 empties cleaning windows and carpets or whatever floor i am working on.

Worked on my truck and cleaned my own home. That’s gotta count for something.

Here in Central Florida we get afternoon thunderstorms nearly everyday in the late spring through summer. We only have 3 seasons here: Rainy Season, Hurricane Season, and Tourist Season. It’s not unusual for me to have to finish a job on Saturday that was abruptly interrupted by a thunderstorm.

Today (Sunday) however, I have to put in a full 16 hours at the local Mazda dealership. Waiting for the rain to stop right now actually, then pressure washing the front 3rd of the building which is 2.5 stories, then cleaning all of the glass inside and out totaling 377 pieces of glass, then finishing by pressure washing the customer visible cement areas and applying a sealer, using floor fans to dry the areas where there is going to be customer foot traffic as quickly as possible, so as not to delay the sales department at all.

Has to all be done on a Sunday because that is when the close early, not closed completely, just early. They are one of my most demanding clients when it comes to time and detail, but they are charged a premium. $3250 for all of the work in one long day/night.

Their sister store took me 4 full Sunday overnights due to rental lift equipment failures, and just the scope of work they wanted accomplished. That building is 3.5 stories and twice the size horizontally, about 1,000 linear feet that needed to be pressure washed x 35 ft high, plus there were 375 exterior pieces of glass and 270 interior pieces, and finally just under 10,500 sqft of flat surface pressure washing . Huge building. That one was a little over $5k and they paid for the lift and generator/work lights.

I will then sleep all day Monday and struggle to get up Tuesday to get on my regular schedule, but roughly $8500 for 5 long days of work is, let’s be honest, freaking awesome. 90 man hours is roughly $94/hr. They are about 16-18 hours of straight work with some water breaks and a 30 min lunch and it’s just me working and I have my 60 yr old Dad hanging out in a fold up lounger as a safety precaution. Just need someone to call 911 if the lift collapses or tips over.

I need to make one statement at the end of all that because it sounds to boastful. I am not expressing all of this to be a braggart. I am simply providing an example of how, if you are diversified enough in your skill set and service offerings, and properly invested in equipment and training, any single person can achieve a more than decent monthly income. I am NOT SAYING anything like make a million dollars a year cleaning windows, like some video titles on youtube. Even in my example, these are semi-annual cleanings, I am attempting to get the companies to hire me for a monthly window cleaning maintenance for $1,100 for both buildings, otherwise these are just the rare unicorn jobs, not the norm.

Relaxed!

Guessing this is either Ocala or Orlando, in either case both of those are huge jobs. Need some help? lol.

I didn’t work today, Saturday in the off season is a rarity, commercial so-so.

They are in Clermont, about 30 min West of Orlando. Finally got the approval for monthly WFP interior and exterior cleanings to keep all that glass looking good.

It’s Saturday and I am out again right now pressure washing a house from roof to paver driveway and sidewalk, including pure water cleaning 36 solar panels. $1k in a day! Diversify your offered services and there will always be some form of work for you.

Played with a forge and anvil today. Now kicking back to enjoy the heat finally. Hamlet I live in has a garage sale day so sitting in my driveway with a few things and pamphlets on a table. I guess I did work in a sense. Cleaned my house windows and landed two jobs by people who stopped by.

Need some help?? I’ll drive back from Tennessee for that man!
