Where have you marketed?

How have you marketed to people and businesses and what has been successful and unsuccessful for you? Newspaper, TV, billboards, signs, the phone book, Google, Facebook, printed shoppers, direct mailers, canvassing. What have you done and what result have you gotten form it?

I think it all depends on what clients you’re trying to reach.

For example I dont personally think door to door residential sales are going to go so well. But door hangers do.

And for commercial it’s the exact opposite.

What customers are you trying to market to?
I would personally begin building a online presence. It will pay off in the long run. And most of the basics are free. Google my buisness, Facebook, Yelp, Next Door.
My rule of thumb is that you get out of it what you put into it. Just by creating these listings wont be enough. It will take time to study each platform and to create quality marketing materials and strategies for each.

If it’s for residential at first I’d go with door hangers.

For commercial I strongly believe in door to door canvassing. In the beginning you’re going to have more time than money. Your marketing should and will change as your time to money ratios change as well.

Yeah, I have gotten about fifteen or twenty accounts I service monthly or bi-weekly and I have most of them from just walking and talking. On the online presence, I’m working on that. I’ve added my business to Google, have had reviews posted to it, am working on a website, have a Facebook page, etc. I’m chipping away. I need some more money to get signs made and I’ll post them around town. I already have people willing to let me post them in exchange for window cleaning. I’m trying to think of ways to advertise without much money, but it’s not easy. Today I was out for six hours and made $85. I quit my job and yesterday was my last day.

I’m doing commercial just because it’s where the consistent money is and I need consistent money very badly, but I want to start doing houses.

Here’s my site if you would like to take a look. I have to buy a domain. I should get that done tomorrow then I’ll add it to my Google listing. Do you have any recommendations?

Try to use some keywords on your site like the areas that you service.

I would add some headers with keywords.

My personal preference is not to list my prices on my site. I like the chance for myself or eventually a sales person to make the sale.

I would add a few google reviews an or add links to where the potential customer could see your reviews.

I would consider moving the about us to the bottom of the page and highlight your services and service areas at the top. Also I’d change that black message button at the bottom maybe to a full bright colored bar with a phone icon.

I would also re word a lot of the script. Too much industry type phrases. The clients dont care and imo looks bad putting others down. Simply explain. Why you would be the best choice based off of your work ethics, techniques ect. AND USE KEYWORDS!!! Like “highest rated window cleaners in Michigan” …well that’s a few but be descriptive. Dont over do it but use words that your clients will be using when searching for your services.

Try to eventually ditch the stock photo. Try to get a few photos of you actually doing the work. People typically can see that it’s a stock photo.

That’s my 2 cents. Just trying to be helpful

Absolutely, boss man. That’s a lot of tips. I’ll work on it as I got. You said you would get rid of the black message button. Were you talking about the button with my eMail address?

Yes . Turn that into a call button. I’d say more than 95% of the clients browsing are going to decide very quickly if they want to use your service and they are typically just going to call. So make that very easy for them.

It looks very different on the computer. I’ve got to figure out how to do that.

Almost 90% of all your traffic will be mobile. Try to keep in mind to make a very mobile friendly site

I’m working on my site at wix as well, there is a preview button you can use and one of the options is mobile, that way you can see what it looks like on a phone. I agree with Luke, most people are going to be looking from their phone, if they can hit that icon and it calls for them, your chances are infinitely better at getting that customer online.

Absolutely!

You’re wanting to be sure you will be able to convert these potential clients into sales.

I think by highlighting what you do, where you do it and how to get a hold of you should be main focused content on the page.

I know you have a way to view how it looks on a phone, but mine isn’t working. I can see it open, but it won’t let me scroll. I have no idea why.
