When to use a pole and when to use a ladder?

I see videos of people using a pole on commercial jobs, but not on residential jobs except once in a very, very great while. So, when do you use a pole and when do you use a ladder?

you get better quality when face to face with the glass, but better speed (and less shoulder pain) when you dont have to unload a ladder. it is a balance between speed and quality. i always try to provide the best quality of service to my customers. in the beginning i used a ladder for everything because i wasnt good with the pole and i didnt want to leave marked up windows. but you definitely dont want to stay that way. i will always use a ladder for residential aside from using a water fed pole. but i am looking forward to trying the Moerman exelerator to see if it works for me for commercial. i dislike straight poling but i do it when i dont have time to make ladder moves and just to practice and be able to train employees to do it when necessary.

I disagree. We get the same quality with a wfp as traditional and we use the wfp on all houses and buildings. We have learned to use attachments and chemicals with a wfp for certain situations. To each his own its a tool and we have just learned to master it as ladders are not a option for me.

I have to agree with john. Wfp can deliver the same results. It comes down to the knowledge of how and when to use it.

WFP is the way to go, great results. Pole work on the inside when needed though, just depends on what your working on. Trying more and more to avoid ladders.
