I’m trying to get a couple of local farm supply stores and they say I need to fill out a form and submit it with a W-9 showing the Taxpayer Identification Number. I’m a little rusty on this because I have just got an LLC for this company and have never done more than a fictitious name before. Can anyone tell me what this is and how it’s tied to an LLC? Where would I get it?
Here is a video from a CPA talking about this. It sounds like it describes your situation.
You would need to register a fictitious name with the state. Then you will need to take that information to your bank so that you will be able to cash checks under that name.
If you have created a LLC ,then fill out a w9 with your new LLC information. When submitting commercial proposals you should always include your w9 & a copy of your insurance.
The information on the Form W-9 and the payment made are reported on a Form 1099. Basically the IRS knows you made some money. They will fill out a 1099 on over 600.00 in a given year. Don’t forget too, to get your local occupational license, they want your money too!
