What changes would you make to existing tools?

If you could make changes to any existing tools that you use, what would it be?

I would personally want to finally take a good look at the ninja clips and re design them. The rubber at the ends have too much play and rides over sills too easily thus making more detail work. I love the idea of them and love the channels but at times they can be frustrating.

I HATE the hardware on the Ettore Backflip. I posted a mod for it. Might as well share it again: https://lukethewindowcleaner.com/community/t/hardware-mod-for-easy-closeouts/382

I don’t mean to derail this thread. But, the only time I used wide body channels was probably 20 ish years ago, because they where so big and I was doing dealerships and big windows. I have not used them since.

Is there a reason why you use this type of channel? I don’t have any dealerships, and don’t have any really large panes of glass ad nauseum.

I use brass ettore channels, 18" 99% of the time. I just don’t know why I would use anything else unless the windows are really small.

I should probably use the search function, but I have used these in the past and aside from the really big ones to avoid poles, I don’t get the draw.

O yeah! I remember seeing this and thought that was a great idea!

I prefer wide bodies for commercial work. I think its mostly a preference and plus they are built like tanks. Also I personally think they perform over all a bit better for larger commercial frames windows.

I have made known to Unger the down side to the Smart clip. It’s something they will be looking at Luke.

Thanks @Johnlee! I think its safe to say it’s not just me. Tons and tons of guys have complained about the clips. I think the concept is fantastic and was almost there just needed some fine tuning. Like the moreman clips, they rolled out and found out through consumer feedback that they weren’t holding the rubbers tight enough. Moreman than fixed it. I wish Unger would do the same.

The Ledger.

It boggles the mind that this tool hasn’t been improved upon for years. The regular straight version constantly falls off your pole tip. The swivel one at least has a plastic grip handle similar to the Sorbo handle but still, this tool is starting to look like a dinosaur.

I would like to get the unger Ninja handle and apply the unger ninja scraper function to it, with the same quality and heavy duty. 0 degrees 15 degrees 25 and 40 it would be a good tool the unger Ninja handle 2.0

That is a great idea. I will pass it up the chain to Unger.

I would like to see a tool effectively clean the inside of a double pane window that is difficult to take out for some reason or storms.

I was frustrated the other day because one of the housekeepers on an estate I am working at had to take off the paint in the outside of the window and pull a 30 pound glass window out on a ladder 2 stories up. I cleaned those panes but I wish I could get the outside of the most inside window more effectively.

Also maybe a better way to apply pressure to a bronze wool or steel wool when scrubbing windows with a WFP.

Now that is a great idea. Yeah having a 0 degree option would be awesome

Starting??? This horrible piece of garbage has been a “dinosaur” for at least the 20 years I have been doing this.

I hate that thing so much that I don’t even own one anymore. I use angles and sideswipes, or just accept that it is not going to be perfect.

How does any company get away with making this sloppy tool? Like you said, it falls off of tips like crazy. And what is with that weird bronze one peice construction with the split at the handle?

If they made the ledger like they make other handles, I might actually use it.
