Hardware Mod for Easy Closeouts

@Redline Was asking in another thread about difficulty closing out. So, I wanted to share a simple mod with you that I love and it makes closing out much easier. I did this mod on my Ettore Backflip, which I use all the time, but I imagine you could do it on other brands as well.

The purpose is to have the lowest profile hardware (nuts and bolts) possible so that your hardware stops interfering with a proper close out:

Step 1:

Buy new hardware:

Step 2:

Remove old hardware. You should be able to figure this step out on your own.

Step 3:

Install new 1/2" bolts with low profile nuts. Tighten very well, these are not lock nuts, but the tension will keep them from loosening.

On the Ettore backflip, I use pliers to lower the angle on the brass bracket. You will see a small tab that raises the bracket up, just bend that out a little bit so it lays lower allowing the new nuts to get a good connection.

Alright let’s have some before and afters:

Yes, you are losing the quick release. But, in return you will have a more solid feeling squeegee. And, swapping channels is a time waster. I would much rather just have multiple sizes ready to go.

More:

Look at the difference in height!!! I got so sick of the bolts hitting the frames.

Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions or feedback.

My pleasure! I actually had to buy a new set of backflips recently, and I forgot how to do this mod. I had done it a really long time ago.

So, I suffered with the hardware hitting the ledges before I could close out properly for a few months. Finally figured out how to do it again, and it is so nice to just feel the squeegee close out every time.
