Using blades

Hello everybody I am a rookie window cleaner. I just started my own business and I have a question about using blades for a post construction job. Someone recommended me to ise the new kind that are plastic and supposedly they do not make any scratches. Is this true? I would love to hear your feedback.

Thanks
Manny

Hi @Manny1214! Yes! Reanna and I used this product a while back. It is more work because the blades are not as sharp but they won’t scratch a window .

I read somewhere that the plastic blades can get microscopic debris stuck in them and that can scratch heat treated glass, but i have no experience with plastic blades personally. but that may be worth looking up. @luke do you guys do contruction clean on heat treated glass? if So, do you clean them differently than other windows?

That’s a great point !

Yes we do. We use stainless blades and 0000 steel wool.

Welcome @Manny1214, ditto @Luke on the SS blades and #0000 Steel wool. Seems to work the best, just be careful and learn a bit before you start using them. A lot of good videos @Luke YouTube channel.

Thanks @SimplyCleanKentucky

I highly recommend any new guys to NOT jump right into ccu. Learn how to clean glass efficiently before getting into construction clean up.
