I was just cleaning a duplex yesterday and the neighbor asked me to clean 3 of her windows. 2 smaller windows and 1 8x5’ livingroom window.
This was my first experience with this. How would you normally price something like that?
I said $50 and she paid it in cash and I came home and created a sales receipt with tax inclusive to keep it on the books (do I need to mail that to her in Canada?).
I figured, it’s 3 windows and I’m 2 doors down anyway, so I don’t have to drive anywhere.
It’s really up to you. Do what you think is fair. I think most companies set a minimum for their services. But it’s hard when somebody next door with just a few windows asks for your help.
The problem in my mind is when the schedule is packed and you have to clean and get to the next job. Is that little job worth it? But that customer may remember that and refer you too. All up to you and how you want to do things. I’d at least come up with a minimum.
I’ve done quick easy and convenient jobs that are right there next door too. The issue I find, is that if you do that job for a discount, it may well be worth your time but if neighbors talk then beware that if the same or similar amount of work is done, your initial client might not be so happy with you anymore since they paid more for the same service. There are definitely pros and cons either way.
