Got some gutter cleaning jobs completed which wasn’t the easiest of jobs. I secured those jobs from a real estate agent I made contact with.

Week 3 has consisted of glass time and helping my wife canvass. We have been experimenting with asking the business owner if they know anyone who also owns a small retail business who might need our services for exchange of one free cleaning. We just started asking yesterday and have developed 4 warm leads. Basically have the owner call and introduce us and then get contact info and follow up with in 24 hrs while the iron is hot. Just trying to think outside the box. But from day one our mission hasn’t changed. We are hustling getting kicked in the face but still loving every minute of it getting to the next yes.

Regardless of our thoughts on Fish, I tried to get as much information on what the franchise expects of their sales force. I came across a article about this process and basically the map out an area for say two to three weeks until they build a route up to $350 then move to the next neighborhood to repeat the cycle. Then they will go back to the first location to add to the $350. Basically they cover every inch of that territory not skipping one business and following up. Eventually building a tight route .

It seems like you are doing well. Congratulations. I am super excited for you! It gives me hope.

I am going down real fast with getting this goung. Which is going to be really awful for my family. I dont know what to do. I feel like I am doing everything right.

It can be difficult to get started. A lot of it is just weathering the first couple of years.

What can I do to get this going? How can I get a full storefront route in a couple weeks?

@Dylan-Paramount

I hope you are joking. No one builds a proper route in weeks. Not even me. :wink:

Building a route from nothing is all about persistence and relentlessness. Think in terms of 2-years. Not weeks. I built a 5-day 45 hour commercial route in 1 1/2 years, for your reference.

If you want this to be your full time job, it will not happen in weeks.

I completely understand what you’re going through my friend. I got a wife and kids so the pressure is on. I got myself a part time delivery job I work Fri-Sun to help offset the startup phase. It’s going to take some time but it’ll be worth the sacrifice and hard work you put in. I look at it like it’s laying the foundation. You got to have a long hard talk with your family and let them know that the first year or so is going to be difficult. Maybe find something at night to help sustain you for the first year. I know what it’s like I’ve missed so much of my children’s life with military life. But I also know that I don’t want to work for anyone but myself and I’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen.

The battle field is the six inches between your ears, stay positive and charge ahead.

Absolutely. It will take at least a year. Most likely years with no experience in the beginning.

Definitely agree. To build a full route that brings In quality income it will take 1-3 years from my experience. Weeks is tough to do, I’d say a year at least to gain momentum.

Anytime starting a business, you should be prepared for a long haul no income. I’m just starting focusing on services, and simply surviving because my construction side still has contracts that are just finishing and a few scheduled to start over the summer. Otherwise from window cleaning and yard maintenance everything is basically going back into the company for marketing, equipment, and consumables. I know it isn’t going to pay anything this year, but hopefully set up to continue next year to solely be under property maintenance and services going forward.
I’m done with construction, it’s dead in Alberta and I’m tired of the subcontractor fight. But in doing that I know what it takes to start out. And it’s months at a minimum. I think when I started in contracting it was 9 months before I took a paycheque
