Help! We are just learning to wash windows. Our neighbors are happily letting us practice on their windows. Their windows are very dirty! We have washed them 2-3 times. We are still getting streaks.

What techniques are you using?

We are still getting used to using all of the new equipment but we used the tried the Moerman Fliq Clip with the Moerman Excelerator Squeegee and that did not work well at all. So we switched to the T-bar mop and separate squeegee attached to 8 foot pole.

So you’re using the Moerman Liquidator channel?

We were and switched to Eltore super squeegee channel 18”.

There are a lot of reasons why you may be leaving streaks and is tough to answer or even guess over a forum. You may not have enough slip in the solution you’re using, the angle that you’re squeegeeing may be a little wrong, you may be installing rubber in your channel incorrectly… My advice would be to get on YouTube and just binge every video you can find about ‘how to clean windows’ professionally. When I first started, I only had a week of training before being set off to work on my own. I just watched a ton of videos and it really helped me a lot. Be patient, give it a little time and allow yourself to organically learn things through trial and error as well.

Alan is correct. Start with the amount of soap you’re using. Start with a little and then add more depending on whether or not you’re getting slip. I personally use a squirt bottle. Add a few drops of soap and try that. For a greasy restaurant add a LOT more soap. Or if the house is super super dirty (like a smokers house), you can add more soap.

Ettore rubber occasionally needs to be broken in.

Only VERY rarely will it be the actual window itself. I’ve only ran into one house out of hundreds and hundreds that had super weird windows that would streak.

Really good. It’s been a REALLY busy year. Now just waiting to see what the rest of 2020 has to offer. Sheesh.
