Start of a new Journey

Tommorow will be my first day out. I am going after storefront accounts. For over a year I have been watching Luke and Reanna’s videos while deployed in Afghanistan . I’m now retired and ready to start my new journey. I know at times the road will be tough but I’m excited to provide a top notch service here in Western Pa.

This is my rig which I was fortunate to save and pay cash for . Some basic tools and a Ford transit.

Thank you Luke and Reanna for for everything you do!!

My first week out I came out of the gate like a Rabid dog, Logistically I have three ZIP Codes that I am going to faithfully work day in and day out . A lot of mom and pop shops/strip malls. My plan was to stay away from strip malls And concentrate on mom and pop shops. My approach at the door was create value as I will be doing all the cleaning myself. I keep on running into a fish franchise who is lowballing the hell out of the glass. I was able to take two accounts away from fish by bringing value and the fact that I’m a veteran owned business. My second week out was just as aggressive but I had to now clean some of the accounts that I have booked the week prior. So far I have a total of 42 accounts. I know those first two weeks my prices were low but I was trying to get my foot in the door. Getting the jobs is the easy part trying to formulate routes logistically is going to be the hard part. My wife will be hitting the road this week canvassing and she will be utilized as a sales person for our organization. Somehow we were even able to secure a office cleaning job twice a month. We had to tweak our insurance but financially it was worth it. My plan is to continue this five days a week 12 hours a day until we reach our goal for the first quarter. :muscle:And while I was out cleaning glass I was approached by several people to do residential so right now we’re looking at getting a water fed pole. I wasn’t planning on doing residential but like everybody says in the videos it just comes to you.

Sounds like you have a great plan of action and you are off to a great start. There is a large Fish office here in the area as well. It seems to me that there is more competition from other solopreneurs who follow or have similar operations to Luke, Reanna, Keith Kalfas, WCR, etc. than from large window companies here in San Diego.

How many cold calls do you think you were doing each day during the first and second weeks?
Also, what type of dollar amounts have you had luck with this past couple weeks? Have you been lucky enough to charge $2/window for plaza and storefront accounts?

I am thinking of targeting plaza, storefront, strip malls and restaurants in the beginning since I do not have a WFP or ladder yet.

Congratulations on landing the commercial cleaning job. We just got out of the commercial cleaning industry. We had a franchise and were cleaning around 40 business on a monthly, weekly, or even 2, 3, and 5x/week clients. We avoided 7x/week clients such as restaurants. However, commercial cleaning is stuck at charging $20-25/hour which makes it hard to operate a business and still pay the local minimum wage of $11.00/hr. Good luck with that client. Just communicate if you have to miss any cleans. Really try to get a key and alarm code. Create a contract with an in depth scope of work. I can send you a copy of the contracts we used which were very all inclusive and used for thousands of clients nationwide. Also, the standard minimum for 2x/month cleaning for commercial businesses is $150/month or $75 per clean. If you can get in and out in less than 2 hours each clean which is possible for any business under 5000 Square feet, then it can be fairly profitable. Invest $500 or so dollars in some used cleaning equipment and you can make some decent money. Just know that the entire industry is capped at about $25/hour even here in California.

What are your first quarter goals, if I may ask? Today was going to be my first day in the field trying to get things going but we had an unfortunate day. So my anxiety is building a little for tomorrow. hahaha.

Proud of you. You must have stepped out of the comfort area this past two weeks.

Thank You,

I came into this with the intent to grow a fairly sizable route from day one. Although this field is completely different to anything I’ve done in the past I believe if your consistent on a day to day basis things will fall into place . I’ve watched every video from Steveo, to Luke and The Window cleanse and listened to every episode that had to deal with store front / route work Jersey produced.
I believe in keeping it simple, from the way I dress which consist of a navy blue shirt and tan work pants, I want to look different than the bucket bobs coming in for a rock of crack or a 40 of old English.

My approach is not a sales approach but just walking in introducing myself handing a card with a price and that’s it. I’ll try to develop some sort of common ground within that first 20 to 30 seconds because that’s all we have. I never talk down on another Cleaner or operation, because I want to develop a good name within my community.

As far as the number of contacts I made on a daily basis, bro I hustled… I had my area mapped out the night before , I planed my route accordingly, and I never skipped or pre judged any business they all got a card . Actually the office I’ll be cleaning is a newly elected State Senator who is a big advocate of Veteran Owned business but I didn’t know that till I took my green ass in there and shook a hand . So if I was to put a number in the amount of contacts I made and as Jersey and Luke preach about the money is in the follow up I have in my folder 250 contacts and I ran out of cards.

I got out and walked with a purpose, it’s a numbers game.

And for my pricing I’m at around $1.50 per pane.

Bi weekly weekly accounts ,and like I mentioned I’m targeting small mom and pop storefronts so anywhere between 10 to 15 bucks. But I’m gonna develop a tight route and those low numbers Will build upon itself. I truly see the value in storefront work. And like I said before I don’t know what the hell I’m doing out here I’m just grinding and hustling.
I attached a copy of my contract that I made for this office and like I said before this just fell on my lap and really don’t want to get into the office cleaning business but right now I’ll take whatever is given to me.

Never talking down other companies is a great policy for anyone to follow. Although, when you come head to head with trying to work the same clients, think of tactful, respectful ways to really show that you can stand out as being better than them…and Fish I’m pretty sure low balls everywhere, I definitely see that here, I think with the mass income behind the corporation (if that’s how they run) they can just afford to do so. But they typically seem to have a high turnover rate with employees so overall less experienced cleaning techs, stress that you’re in this for the long haul, it’s not just a job for you, this is your chosen career.

Sounds like you’re of to a great start!

Hey Pgh412,

First off I also wanted to thank you for your service to our country. Now that we are starting August and you have been cleaning for about 3 months, how are things going? Are you continuing to clean the accounts you picked up in the first couple of weeks?

Also are you focusing at all on residential clients?

I am in the process of launching my own company so I’m interested to hear about what 3 months down the road could look like.

Thanks!!

Congrats to you and your wife hitting the streets hard. Thats encouraging. Nothing like beating on the doors and saying hello. Keep it up!!!

Yes I need help and getting people :sob::skull: motivated to do the job if you can please contact me at 405-617-4231
