Sleeves

Just bought a couple of Ettore Pro Microfiber Sleeves. Within two weeks they are very stained (looks like rust) and they are getting matted down. It’s almost like the fibers are sticking together. I’ve seen other guys scrubbers that they have had for months and they look like new. I rinse them out at the end of each day and wash them with no detergent once or twice a week. What am I doing wrong?

How do you wash them? Whenever I’ve used a washing machine, they end up like thick matted hair… I only ever soak them overnight when they are really bad, usually just squeeze them out otherwise. I find the Unger monsoon and the Moerman sleeves don’t knot up

I bought 2 green unger sleeves about 5 years ago and I still use one of them. The only reason the second isn’t still used is because I trashed it by cleaning cigarette smoke residue off wood siding in a sunroom.

My tiger stripe sleeve (I think by Sorbo maybe, it’s white with red stripes.) started giving me issues early on though.

I usually wash once every couple weeks through busy season with dye free odor free laundry detergent and dry with no dryer sheets or softener. It works really well to spray them out with my 1700 psi pressure washer.

I wash them in the washing machine once or twice a week. I’ve tried washing them on delicate but doesnt seem to matter. I will have to try soaking them overnight. Do you get little rust spots on yours from steel wool?

Do they stink?

We wash our daily along with our towels we use that day.

Are you drying them?

They do start to stink after a few days. I do not dry them. Do you use detergent when you wash them?

I’m starting to wonder if it is my washing machine washing them too aggresively and causing them to get matted.

I don’t. But we do wash them daily. Id say its just those sleeves.

Those ettore sleeves are really nice at first but everyone I’ve had matt up like that quickly. No matter how you take care of them.

If after each job you hand wash it and wring it out, you can avoid the frequency of putting in the machine and it shouldn’t stink up. If you just leave it sitting with the stagnant mop water though, yeah it can get pretty rank. At least run it under the hose faucet until All the soap seems to be rinsed out, then wring it out really good. Set it to where it can air dry.

No one likes stinky mops! Lol!

Good to know. What sleeves you using these days?

I use unger sleeves and reanna is using ettore and Moreman.

I have found the Pulex Microtiger is the worst for matting up, it looks like a chunky caterpillar dreadlock after a few washes!

Yes! That’s the one I was talking about! I couldn’t remember the name. The elastic tbar strap broke very early on too so it gets a bit floppy.
