Shirts

So I’m going to be ordering some shirts to look more professional. My question is who does everyone else order from? I would like a good quality shirt for cheap. Not super cheap but best all around value.

Look around your local area to see if someone would make a shirt for you. This is what I would do. First decide what your business brand (not your personal brand, we can talk about that in private sometime) is going to look like. If not you can get a logo made on fiverr.com (yes that is the correct spelling). Sometimes it’s low as 5 bucks, look for a design artist you like with high ratings and lots of them then have them do the work. The logo should stand out, be interesting and capture attention. On your shirt, have the logo over your heart or the other side on the front, have your first name only on the other end. Don’t use your first and last name together, that’s too confusing and people will lose focus when they are trying to figure out what you are offering.

On the back of your shirt have the logo way bigger and put a phone number on the bottom of it. The logo should have your company name obviously and make sure you can dedicate a prepaid phone for business use. They may not be a write off on taxes unless it is classified as a “business line” through a phone company. Regardless don’t use your personal phone ever to take business calls, separate the calls.

Now as far as shirt color, it’s your choice. For professionalism I would pick black, maybe a darker blue (I use darker blue), grey works. Color sends different signals As tempting as it sounds, it’s harder to use really colorful shirts like light green or yellow or baby blue or pink, or unless you are very credible as a company, a national company here uses red. I also use dark blue slacks like Dickie’s brand work pants. I like shorts but when I’m the professional I don’t see myself as one wearing shorts, also slacks are better if you are on a roof so you don’t burn your legs.

If you are going into consultations at someone’s home, you need a business suit or at least a log sleeve shirt with a tie, and business slacks. You could pick up a uniform as a thrift shop for cheap but eventually upgrade to a nicer suit. Again, dark blue, black and grey are great colors. Also do not wear sneakers for either your work uniform or consultations. Sneakers do not match your uniform or business wear, you could buy anti slip resistant shoes and actually wear them for work and business (I do and they are cheap, last a long time and can save your life.)

I hope the above information helps and I will email a template of a contract to you soon, been very busy this week.

Thanks @Jacob. Yeah I had a design made by someone at fiverr.com a while ago before I decided on my final name. Luckily I have a friend that does graphic art so he hooked me up with a logo. There are a few places locally that offer shirts so I will def go and talk to them. I like that idea better cause I think it will give me a chance to actually feel the shirt and see if it something I would want. I also feel that shorts aren’t very proffesional (my opinion before everyone bashes me). I live in florida so as much as I would like to wear them and so.e flip flops, i just think pants and boots are a better fit for me, and i hate wearing sneakers while I’m on a ladder.

Slip resistant shoes are professional looking and they have they functional use of boots. You will have a harder time slipping, it will let you keep your footing on a ladder better, they don’t track as bad in homes either. Also people will just see it matches with your overall uniform.

A problem I am currently having is my uniforms are fading very easily, I had a different vendor before and they went out of business unfortunately. The new uniforms are not as good, however I found they last longer if you flip the shirt inside out to wash it, that way the logos, letters and numbers dont rub off in the wash.

One I have used and has no limit and is cheap is Queensboro in Wilmington NC online store.

Hey Stahlnikk, If you want I can hook you up with my vendor. I can also give you some tips and advice if you want. The expense involved is the quality of the screen printing. The cost of the shirt itself is negligible. She promised that the shirt would wear out before the screen print and she was dead on. Give me a call I know of some route work you can bid on near you. I’ll help you out if you want. Cheers

Jacob has some good advice. The only thing I would disagree on is do not use black shirts. It is hot as hell in our area most of the time and you won’t like black it’s too hot on top of already hot environment. However, black is good for gutter cleaning days, haha!

As this is my 1st season, my work shirts are good. I want to explore with more shirt companies though. Maybe a polo next year20180808_214843

I’ve had to use spreadshirt online for my stuff. I haven’t ordered bulk yet so when I need shirts I just get them from there. The only thing is, they’re not cheap when you order shirts like that.

I get mine from a store that does all that kind of work. Ive got hats, shirts and hoodies from them.

I disagree with my own advice too from time to time. Black uniforms is would depend on where you live and weather. If you are working in a warmer climate, sure I can see the color being switched, people say white but the minute you get anything on you it sticks out. Now if you are pitching a service you might only be outside in a black business suit for 10 minutes tops at a normal size home, generally the inside is cooler on a hot day.

I understand it’s not cheap to order shirts, however it’s also not cheap to miss an opportunity because you didn’t look the part. I would pay double or triple for one shirt now versus not having a shirt and also not getting the money for the opportunity I missed. Hope things are well Joey.

I would work with you for free for the day if I am ever up your way, to have a shirt that cool.

We use grey polo shirts with our logo embroidered. I personally think it looks far more professional than a t-shirt with a silk screen image, and it is 100% polyester so we don’t have to worry about bleach marks when power washing.

Need 5 of them per person though, can’t wear it 2 days in a row. Stinky!

We just asked about that in yesterday’s video. We might do that actually. I just have to wait for things to slow down a little before we do. I need a breather lol

I understand, you have to prioritize. You can’t do everything, right. Well, look forward to them coming out when they do. Take care and stop a moment and breathe .
