Residential jobs

Greetings everyone, my wife and I recently started a new business. I have been cleaning for about 2 years. I have two questions.
Does anybody charge extra for when you have to move furniture on residential jobs?
What has been a successful strategy for getting residential jobs? Does it vary?

Greetings @Brightclean!

We dont charge extra . We think window cleaning is a luxury service. So we want our customers to sit back and relax.

There are many ways…

Eddm or “every direct door mailer” is a proven method
But costly

Door hangers is another great way to get new clients.

Think of it this way. If you have the time but not a big marketing budget, door hangers is the way to go.

If you have the budget but not the time , eddm is the ticket.

I have a postcard sized promotion that basically says" Ive just cleaned your neighbours property, your house will look just as good for $____. Call me on…"
I leave this at each property either side and the one opposite the house I’ve just cleaned. If the neighbors get on well they’ll promote your business and I’ve had good success with this. It also builds up a round that minimizes travel next time you clean them.

Thank you

I dont necessarily charge extra for moving furniture…it fixed into price so the custy doent know…

However, i will send email a prep procedure clear out any trinkets/knickknacks that will get in my way. I will not move heavy furniture , bedframe, entertainment center, china cupboards, and heavy dressers if it severely block my access to the window. They will have to deal with that. Not my problem.

I don’t charge for moving objects or furniture, it’s one of those things that is part of the work. If there are lots of photos or bits on the window sills just ask the client if they are able to move them off whilst you do the outside first. Most seem to oblige.
