Rained out

How do you guys handle rain days? We aren’t huge fans of doing interiors and then going back. Its difficult when you have a large service area.

We typically just reschedule and or pick up a extra day on the weekend.

Never rains in Vegas!!! When it does we do the same. There is always room for you guys here.

I try to keep Fridays from booking anything so that if it rains a day during the week, can pick it up on Fridays. If it rains a few days in a row, I reschedule, but then my scheduled work so far is pretty much all one offs, and the owners are very happy to reschedule till a nicer day.

That’s a great idea!

I like that too Ryan. I think small business owners pushing 60-80 hours just don’t have room for rain or sometimes room for new business either. Keeping that day open fixes that, and the over scheduling problem too. Down here in Tampa FL it’s not “if” it will rain but what time of day. Almost EVERY day in the summer is a 40%-70% chance of rain, and it gets old fast.

This my be an unpopular opinion, but, I do not believe in “rain days.”

I clean windows rain or shine, and all my clients from Resi to route are trained that I work rain or shine.

The first few times I worked in the rain, customers questioned it, but I explained that rain water dries clear as long as the window is clean.

Repeat after me: “The only window that looks bad after rain is a dirty window.”

I haven’t had a single complaint, and I have steady income as a result.

Summer in Florida there is always a collision of seabreezes from both coasts, more often than not, right here in the middle of the state. I’m about 30 min West of Orlando and we get rain almost daily between 2-4 pm from April to Sept. This year has been a little late to start the pattern, but we’re in the thick of it now.

If all you are contending with is water falling from the sky, clean some windows, especially if they are maintenance cleanings. Even better is if you can use a WFP. Essentially you have pure water coming from your brush and pure water coming from the sky helping you rinse. HOWEVER, the moment you hear a rumble or see a flash, stow your gear and get inside.

I will add this caveat though. A lot of my residential cleanings are in retirement neighborhoods with golf courses and there tends to be significant wind during these regular afternoon storms. Sometimes you need to be prepared to go back and do a touch up or two when some wind has picked up some dirt or other debris during the storm.

I think @DanTheWindowMan has the right work ethic. But that’s not to say that if I’m feeling a little low on energy, I won’t use it as an excuse to take the day off. I’ll tell my clients something like: “I don’t want to risk having your windows get dirty right after I clean them.” I just want what is best for them…

I’m with @DanTheWindowMan I just get wet, just be extra mindful not to track mud in the house, try to do interior first. Lightning on the other hand scares the :poop: outta me! Bad lightning storms aren’t as common here as other places but I pack it up if it gets to bad.
