Its a problem I’ve run into before, and I always hate coming across it. I was doing a landscaping job this afternoon repairing a lawn done by a guy who i’m pretty sure didnt have a clue what he was doing. I never talk bad about others in the industry I’m working in. I always try and network to work together as you never know when you need help, or they need some help and call you.
Bit of background on today. I had to reseed, fertilize, and add a ton of peat moss to a lawn that was only sodded last year, because another company sold this guy on having his lawn aerated, and de-thatched. Essentially they scalped it. Several areas were very thin, and a few completely bald. It isnt a hard fix, but its going to look bad for a few weeks now while the new seed takes, and may take another overseeding.
It was really hard today while showing the client what I’d done, and why I’ve done it, and explaining why he cant have the kids run on the grass for a week without outright throwing this company under the bus. Just curious as to what you guys do. I know its a different industry, but there has to be a nice way of telling a client yes they screwed up, without saying they are a bunch of …
Customers know when they have choice the wrong vendor. No need to discuss all the issues the other guy caused. Just assure the customer what you have done as why and that it’s a process to bring the guys property back.
