Offering credit card payment option

Hey guys! Im curious to know if any of you offer the option to your clients to pay with a credit card? I have a credit card machine which charges me 3.25% from the bill but I’m wondering if this is a fee that I need to add to the client or is it a fee that I need to absorb because I offer the service or should I just not offer the credit card option?
Thanks in advance!

I like to give my clients every possible way to pay, so there’s no excuse for them not to have a means of payment on them.

I use a Bluetooth square reader which has been working out well so far. I’m also able to accept credit cards through quickbooks and I have another company I’m ready to switch to the moment Square gives me enough trouble.

I recommend having a few options. Just boost your window cleaning price accordingly (3.5%) for every job to account for the increase. (not suggesting a credit card fee, but covering your costs across the board).

Makes sense! The only mistake I did for now is that my client asked me about the possibility of paying with a credit card after I quoted her so unfortunately I think I’ll have to suck this one up and learn from my mistake in order to be able to offer any means of payment for the service. She is my first official commercial account so I think I still have a lot to learn! Thank you for the advice!

The CC laws in Canada state that you can’t charge extra to accept credit cards. You can however give a discount for other means of payments.

I never considered charging that % on top of the bill. I often pay for things, food, services with CC and I’ve never had anyone ever try to charge me to use CC. It’s all a part of doing business and 100% tax write off. Plus, the customer opens their wallet more while you’re there if you can accommodate their preferred payment method. That’s usually when I push addon services.

I think that you are 100% correct and I have absolutely zero argument against any of that!
Thank you for the tip and advice!

I use PayPal and Square. Square has lower fees. I wish all my route customers would pay the invoice with cc. It would make book keeping so much easier. But they do not most mail a check or pay cash at point of service.
