New job, tinted windows

I have a small bar that’s wanting me to clean it’s windows for it’s grand opening tomorrow evening. It has some crud and the part that really bothers me is the bottom of a door having the adhesive from a sticker that stretched the width of the door. How do I go about this? I’m going to under price myself because I’m trying to get jobs and learn, but how do I test to see which side the tinting is on and how do I get all this crud off if it is on the outside?

Ironic, I just dealt with a storefront that has tint on the inside of the windows today. Sometimes the tint you can feel the edge of the corner of the tint film, that would be the side it is on. I was told not to use ammonia or steel wool or a scraper because it will remove the tint. I heard some stuff like really soft scuffs can be taken out without removing the film with a microfiber as long as you dont use the sharp corners of the microfiber. The corners can actually scratch too. I have never had tint of both sides of the window, so if you know which side it is on you could use the steel wool, scraper on the non tinted side. Im not sure how you would remove that stuff without removing the film.

If the adhesive is too much and its on a non tinted door, 0000 steel wool should work, use nothing less than 0000. If its too much, a scraper would help.

@Luke @TheWindowCleanse @DanTheWindowMan @Johnlee How would you guys deal with this? I had a similar issue at a yoga studio today.

@Stoneface Tinting is (almost) always on the inside of windows. As @Jacob stated, try to look for the edge or corners to determine which side the tinting is on. If you cant see anything, use your fingernail and tap it on the pane. You should be able to feel the difference between bare glass and tinted glass.

If you are sure that the side with adhesive is not tinted, then the fastest way to remove it is with soapy water and a brand new razor blade.

If the adhesive is on tinted side, do not use anything abrasive. Try a product like Goof Off:

I am pretty sure that it is safe on tint.

These are great also and are water based not oil based like goof off so clean up is easier. https://shopwindowcleaningresource.com/solv-it-wipes.html

I got the job. It’s in town so shouldn’t take me so long. I’m going to try all of this. Thanks guys.
