Malls?

So I got a call to do a bid for a store in a mall that’s close to me. Still waiting to here back to see if I got the job. But my question is, do you think it’s worth it to try and go to the other stores in the mall and try and get there business? I never here anyone talk about trying to get mall accounts, is it because there to hard to get?

My first question is, is this a strip mall or and all indoors big shopping center mall?

All indoors big shopping center

Well, just to mention first off I mainly focus on residential so I’m really not the best to talk to about commercial jobs. However, when working for other companies I have worked in malls doing other types of work. One thing that I would tell you as a caution, if you are working during open hours Be mindful of heavy foot traffic. Carry a few cones, wet floor signs. Small things like that can make a big difference on liability of somebody taking a slip and fall. People are sue happy these days! Otherwise, if the one job seems like it can work out for you and the mall allows soliciting, go ahead and hit up the other shops. The more money you can make in one trip, the better!

Ok, thank you for the advice. The guy just called and I got the job so I guess I’ll go to the other stores and try to get their business after I’m done.

Most malls have rules about when you can work on outside of windows. Be mindful because you have limited time so doing a lot of stores presents a challenge

Everything went well, this mall you have from 6:00AM to 10:00PM to get the windows done. But that’s just for the outside, inside windows you can do anytime during the day. So I timed it that I would be finishing the outside by the time they opened then started the inside. The manager at Starbucks in the mall asked me to give her a quote when she saw me doing the current business I was doing, so I may have just gotten another job

I clean 7 stores at a big local mall, and their game is to have each store sign a before hours waiver EVERY month to allow me to enter before the mall opens. I also have one store that expects the inside done before they open even though they arrive 45 minutes early. They claim the mall has had a couple lawsuits over water on the ground in the past, and this is why it’s so important to do all outside glass ahead of time. I also had to add the mall name as an additional insured on my insurance. After jumping through those hoops it’s been super easy money for me. It’s air conditioned, 90% of the glass stays cleaned since it’s an indoor maintenance cleaning, and I even use a 30" Channel on huge glass to make it go super fast on pole work straight pulls etc…

It seems so easy to market to other stores because now I’m an “official” service provider at that mall, and I’m already up there once a week anyways. The hard part with marketing is how most stores have to approve a simple thing like cleaning through a corporate office and they will take forever or decline. The store manager may really want the service but their hands are tied or they pay cash.
