I have a step ladder I use, bought an eight foot a-frame ladder and I was at the store before Christmas and saw a 22-foot multiple position Werner ladder I bought for $109 at Lowe’s. Then the store calls me and tells me they’re not going to carry the ladder any longer, so they want to give me a 22-foot Little Giant. I hate the Little Giant. I feel like I’m hanging on a thin sheet of aluminum. They wanted to know if I would be willing to swap the ladder I bought for any other ladder besides the Little Giant.
My question. How tall of a ladder do you need? I see very few that would go beyond 22-foot in the air which would mean like a 27-foot ladder would be the highest I think you could need, but I would like to hear what you guys think. Anything words are appreciated.

The answer to your question depends on what you’re wanting to work on. In the past I have clean the windows from a 40 foot extension ladder. As far as extension ladders that I carry every day, I keep a 16 foot, the 20 foot, and 24 foot. That covers most of the homes that I work on. It just depends on your target location.

2’ & 8’ A-Frame, 16’ adjustable, 24’ adjustable we carry on us at all times (ladder rack) that should cover 90-95% of your jobs.

I use the multi-position 17’ ladder and a 28’ aluminum extension. My goal is to add a 22’ extension and maybe a 32’ one day but I don’t believe I will ever purchase a 40’ or anything fiberglass as they are heavier than I want to deal with. I think the 2 ladders i have are almost perfect for everything I’ve come across BUT I have had to use a 4x8 pole from the top of the maxed out 28’ on a few windows this year, but I also don’t yet have a waterfed system which would have eliminated the need to do that.
I’ve used the Werner and LG and i like the Werner better( mine is an off brand from harbor freight and is nice but doesnt slide as smooth as the werner and the feet arnt as nice.)
The folding ladder helps out in a lot of odd situation but a 22’ is HEAVY. If you don’t yet have an extension It may be a good idea to get one and the adjustable feet go a long way when positioning if you are able to purchase those as well.
Both folding and extension are important but maybe folding is better to get first because of how versatile it is.
Without having adjustable feet on my ladders, this is one of the best tools I have. It’s great at leveling the feet in many situations. About $100 new but I’ve been able to get both of mine pretty cheap.
When you use your 24-footer is it barely able to reach or do you think a 22-footer would manage?
I’d go with a 24’ and install leg levelers, very important to your safety.
