Is it possible for deionised water to cause damage to aluminium window frames?

Hi there. I am new to the forum, hello everyone.

I would like to know if there is any chance that Deionised water can cause damage to aluminium window frames. I apologise if this subject has been covered.
Thanks

As far as I’m aware there’s no damage u could cause except maybe at worst scratches on the frame with ur brush or steel/bronze wool.

Though if the frames are oxidised or if there’s algae on them it can leave runs if your not careful.

I’ve researched this and asked a friend who is a lab tech in the oil field and works with DI in pipelines all the time and his opinion is, no 10 minutes of exposure is not going to do a thing to cause damage.

Like @Ddss mentioned, it can leave streaking kind of like mascara running down someone’s face if the window or sills are really dirty.

Here’s a study NASA did on it which says after 10 days of straight exposure at 100 degrees F, no dissolution happened.

In all my years of using DI water I have never seen it do any damage to frames.

Thanks for the info, very informative. I’m now sure my water can not harm aluminium frames or much else for that matter.
