Introduce yourself!

Hi All, My name is Trent and i’m from Sunny Australia, Nowra, NSW. I am an Electrician by trade for the last 16yrs. I have come across to bring in window cleaning to my work as i was providing Solar panel cleans and i saw i have some of the best gear that can be used for windows too, aka Water fed pole and DI tank system. My father had a cleaning business when i was younger and i had learnt a lot of skills, inc window cleaning that are still kind of there, hahaha. Anyway, I have loved the videos you have put out they have brought myself up to speed and especially as that you and Reanna work together and contribute. Something i am currently building on doing with my wife so we can work in and around our kids. Once again, appreciate it and lots of love to all!
Cheers
Trent

Hello everyone!!! My name is Calcee Slade (Kelsey) I am down here in sunny, gorgeous, everyday is a day to clean windows, Tucson, AZ!!! Yes its sunny 97% of the time (and temps can reach as high as 118 ° F outside, yikes!!) But the weather or should I say the hot ass sun, is absolutely perfect bc it comes up early during spring/summer,usually at 5-6 am theres sunlight creeping through the windows, so being able to get off at 1-2-3 pm allows me time to stay out of the sun, work long days if I need ive worked 13 hours, 14 hours days before with Gabe, I usually get 5-7 homes to clean due to construction and stay relatively cool unless the AC doesnt hold Freon AkA my last car which l, would get all hot, sweaty, and bothered. For the most part though I’m usually out of the sun throughout the day enough that it doesnt wear me down like it did when I worked at my Granparents very successful welding and fabrication shop.
There are times when I feel like hell rains on me with 118 °degree weather and Im in the sun for an hour or 2 or sometimes, even more but having a successful little business down here requires some kind of way of being in the sun. Plus we usually do the in and outs (not always INs, sometimes just outside window cleaning only) so when Im finished up outside, I can go inside and usually the AC is keeping the inside so nice and cool which helps me not be so hot or sweaty the whole day. So by the time all the windows are clean, inside, I’m not sweating bc the AC has cooled me off, prevented me from being all muggy and stinky later. I have experience in this weather, I’m ALWAYS drinking water or some powerade/gatorade to stay hydrated and cool plus Im a tough SOB, sun isnt going to put me down or make me want to stop working!!

Tucson has beautiful weather so beautiful that it stays rather dry without a ton of rain or snow or ice or cold weather through the yr that would impact the busniess negative and prevents the windows from looking stuning! But it also means no scheduling issues, no getting rained on when I work, which means less Calcium stains on the glass leaving the glass to shine or sparkle whichever you prefer. Honestly, not having to reschedule, being able to make every appt throught out the day, keeps the customer happy, they build trust, and the quality has to be immaculate and if all three of those things are in tact guess what? The customer is going to be happy so next time they need the windows cleaned they will call the most comfortable person they know to do the job again and thats good bc I dont clean windows to just clean them, make them shine just to make them shine. Im so confident and know that I nust my ass to give the customer something to be in “awh” over. One more of my favorite things is when the customer compliments your work after seeing u study every window from top to bottom and clean every window from top to bottom, clean windows are such a beautiful thing to look at or to look through that I make it my goal to make sure the customer sees every window that I cleaned to get feedback from them. Not every time is perfect, not every window is gonna be spotless but after u use your steel wool, scraper, or the white pad, you will notice the differece so that going forward the build up isnt a lot and if needed, (really, wanted is the right word), the WFP pole can be used to eliminate ladder work or eliminate having to use an extension pole all together. Not having to use the ext pole so much helps with dirt and, build up on the window. and Yes it really gets past 110° during the summer but learning how to fan, has helped me be faster, it has helped me with better quality and the quality from learning how to fan is nowhere near as frustrating as compared to using the up/down method or the side/side method. I’m wiping less, which means Im using less towels throughout the day at the jobs even if its a house with 30 plus windows I can usually finish a contruction clean up job that has 30 plus windows in 3 or 4 hours… Maybe Less? Less towels means less laundry to wash, that helps me save most towels from becoming soaking wet, saves me from spending $$ for laundry (plus it takes water and electricity, which costs $$. Every time the washing machine or drier is turned on, it uses electric/water and can cause a regular water or electric charges on the bill if used too much!! Therefore using less towels will save me money based on being off instead of running 24/7 and having to clean rags every night.

I have been cleaning windows for 4 yrs, my 1st two window cleaning jobs were with 2 separate owners and neither one of them knew how to fan and honesltly, both of those owners dont really know what window cleaning is about, or how you work a squeegee. I had no idea how to properly fan or clean the windows either until last October when I meant my boss who I work for PT (Commercial work Thursday with residential work on Fridays!!) As I stated before I didnt really know how to clean windows the right was but I convinced myself (if I could learn how to fan) that I would be prepped for more prepared to clean windows the fast and efficient way. Ive always liked the work and I thought I had in the bag bc it felt like all I needed to Advertise, (less than 50$ a month to advertise in a local retirement community where older people who need ladder work help bc they can’t go up and down on the ladder anymore and most of the retirement communities are filled with people who want to drop some money on a window cleaner who will respect the things you own and someone who all respect that this is your job, this money is my sons money so that when hes old enough and,if he wants too, he can just learn from me and work, cleaning houses or businesses until he was ready to run it himself. He already told me that I do a good job, he tells me when I miss something like a streak or bug. Shit he is already starting to get the hang of the squeegee, i just gotta help him by guiding his hands the way I did when I first started fanning. I’d respect the person who hired me, Id respect any nice equipment in the house whether it be a broken rake, brand new lawnmower, or a ladder!! 25 $ for the licence, Downtown for the business license, potential earnings a 1000$ a day? More? Shit is easy… I thought anyways so I presented my cousin with a business outline for window cleaning and pressure washing, he had money to fund the so we did! I was super excited but still up to this point, after working for myself, I had no idea I didnt really know what I was doing but I thought I was Mr Window Cleaner so we opened a business named it "Clear Horizon window cleaning " ordered the best equipment like with unger squeegees/washers, pouches with belt buckets, screen opener tools, scraper, WFP with a flitering tank that his dad bought us, basically everything we needed to start advertising and getting our name out there, we got. It wasnt super busy but we would average 1-3 houses a week with Groupon and without using this tool, I would of been that much more lost bc Groupon a legit way to get cheap advertising and people LOVE GROUPON. YES, they do take half of whatever you make but we were advertising "25 panes for 79$ " of course that was just the in and outs with no track cleaning, calcium removal, screen removal, putting sunscreens back on, or cleaning screens (bug or sun), I usually will detail the windows even if they didnt pay extra for window detailing bc I see it like anyone can use a squeegee and keep mositure from forming calcium, but can u clean the window like a pro? Also, how efficient are you being? Are you lazy? Do you move fast? Do u try to go around all 4 corners to clean the window while fanning or are you lazy when fanning ?? Are we gonna risk the potential of having dirty and wet rags getting water or dirt back on the clean glass? Like I said earlier, i never taught myself how to work a squeegee, I would always just go from left to right 3,4,5 times, until the glass tolds me “thank you, you made me sexified today” Without learning how to fan it would take me forever to wipe the left over water from the window and my towel would be soaked usually half way through the job so Id dirty another rag… Then another… then another… then another rag so I was going through towels like I owned a million hahaha and had all the laundry soap in the world.
Well long story coming to a short end bc you guys are all already sick of me and Ive posted one damn time. I met Gabe, hes the owner of “Gabes Spotless WC,” and hes a true window washer whose been in business for 15 yrs, has the most loyal customers, and knows exactly what hes doing!! Some of,his customers dont mind forking out 600-700 for window clean, with his reputation and quality work, we never seem to run into something we cant fix. Its like that usually 5 jobs a week, with little jobs in between. I went from FT with Gabe to Pt due to a miscommunication error on my end but I have 100 % learned and 100% will never go anything like that again. Also, I do construction clean up homes up here in Saddlebrook for 11$ / hour but pay raises and hours will come varying on the quality of my work and the way I apporach the jobs. So it may stay a little slow for the next 2 weeks but will pick up soon and Im convinced a lot of money is going to be made doing these jobs and then ill have my own thing as well.

My cousin and I tried opening a business, we could basically have access to any kinda window (that doesnt require hanging off the builidng bc heights are not where Im comfortable at. I mean, I can use a ladder but having a pole with a copper wool pad and filtered water that dries on clean, helps out a lot by saving time and money. If its the first time the windows have been cleaned, ill extend a ladder, use my white pad, and most the times ill hit it with some steel wool or my scrapper to get the window cleaned. My boss has not only taught me how to clean windows, hes taught me how to maintain a business, how to incorporate different methods of me cleaning windows so I can be more efficient and fast… After almost 7 months of being an actual window cleaner and not just a worker, I can fan faster, Im knocking the construction jobs out an hour and a half maybe even 2 hours off my original time it use to take to clean windows and the quality is really different when u fan, Idk how I took so long and was ok with taking my time at first but I’m a proud window cleaner who had no idea what he was doing until I got with someone who knows clean windows now the construction clean ups are easy and not as much time goes to waste or going some where else.

Nowadays I’m slowly putting together a decent little windiw cleaning company which I named “Arizona Winning Streaks” and to me, growing up on AZ bball, Lute Olsen at the helm and the longest NCAA TOURNAMENT STREAK EVER (by getting to the dance almost 25 straight yrs.) The community has our Wildcat backs and I hope they realize that AZ Winning Streaks will always have their backs too!! Really excited to start scrolling through the forum to read some stuff I had questions on and general window cleaning facts that I just don’t know yet. Super excited to check out the videos you have made for window cleaning. I appreciate a chance to be in such a good little community, now lets go make this money and sell these window cleans to customers who want to stare at the sunset from inside of their fresh new clean windows and the fresh smell of Dawn dish soap, and are impressed with myself bc I know what Im doing now!!!

Hope to hear from you guys soon, I’m also a competitor, I hate being 2nd or losing to friends/rivals. However this forum doesnt strike me as a place I should be worried about and even though sharing business information/ideas isnt a thing Im too fond of, nor do I like giving out advice that has helped me succeed or give away stragies that have helped me so far but we are all family guys and I love all you window cleaners!!!
