OK, I did it. After 10 years in the making, I finally took the leap of faith. After watching uncount-able numbers of videos, lots of prayers, I took out the equipment I had bout nearly 7 years ago. I got my first house, sight unseen, and it had to be done “today” this was last Wednesday. It was dirtier than a normal window. I guess it used to be a crack house. My soon to be step son in law got me the job. We (yes my wife came to help) were doing the windows in the dark, with light from inside. (house cleaners were cleaning the inside)
My first lesson was make sure I bring all my equipment. I had to borrow towels from the cleaners.
My next 2 houses were on Sunday I did 2 houses, in less then 10 hours, made about 875$
My second lesson learned, but aluminum ladders, not fiberglass. I needed a 28 ft ladder to do these. They have 12/14 ft ceilings. I needed a 8 ft step ladder just to reach the top of the first floor windows.
Lesson 3, using a pole (had to run out and buy one after doing the fist house) is easier then climbing up and down ladders.
lesson 4 charge or have them take out the screens. I wasted a lot of time doing this.
lesson 5, is it NOT as easy as it looks watching videos on you=tube, I was beat when I got home, and had a charlie horse in the middle of the night.
I am 60 years old, and I am a truck driver for the past 15 years. I just need something different.
I enjoy what I am doing. My Step son in law cleans houses in a very wealthy neighborhood, He is feeding me the work, while I wait on my business cards, etc to come in. I already have my name Van’s Window Washing llc, and insurance. I have a lot of question that I need help with, and will check this forum for answers. I pick a random person out of the internet in Ohio, (I’m in Florida) His name is Dave, and has been doing windows for 35 years. He has been a great help, with answers that can’t wait for replies from here.
I truly thank Luke, and Reanna, for all the honesty and information you put in your videos. and even Keith.(i forgot his last name, (he has great videos as well, but way to much profanity for me) .
This is an industry that everyone just seems to be very helpful to everyone.

How I got the bug to do windows. in (Chicago) 1989 while out side my (x) wife’s small 300 sq ft beauty shop some guy on a bicycle with a bucket, and a gas station squeegee, cleaned her 2 windows and door, and charged her 5$
I laughed to my self thinking, “oh there is some beer money” he did all 10 stores in the little strip mall, and just made 50$ in less than an hour.

OK, I hope this is not to long. I need to now look for my answers to my questions. I just quoted 3 more house @400$
God is blessing me, and my prayer is that He keeps blessing you all too.

I love the stability of fiberglass ladders, and they’re safer around power lines, but boy I love how light my aluminum ladders are! Welcome @MrVan

Welcome! Sounds like you got the base down so far. I’m still new, too, and I’m sitting here laughing “with you” because I quickly learned all the above

lots of questions, every time i do a house, more questions. Today I did what I think is a charity house. The lady is property manager for a bunch of churches, and club houses. So my son in law cleaned her house for free, and me the windows. almost 40 windows, 37 have plastic french panes. What a time killer. Went to lunch and was looking at you tube on how to clean them. saw lots with the real pane, but not plastic ones. To much drip from the top windows.

Hello Everyone, I’m 20 and I just started window washing in St George Utah about a month ago. I love your videos Luke, they are very useful for a beginner like me, and the personality you and Reanna bring to the videos make them very entertaining as well. I hope to gain a lot from this community, thanks guys.
