How does Luke using his Moerman mod without detailing?

I’ve watched @Luke use this mod in several videos and he always seems to get it clean. No detailing. I asked @SteveO and he said he’s never had a problem with it. They look to mop all the way to the the edge of the window, too. How do they get away without detailing?

Just a guess but he either does it after so that he doesn’t bore everyone with the detailing as suggested in one of his older clips…
Or @Luke has become so good that he no longer needs to detail! (part sarcasm part truth!). With a weekly account there is no need to detail up high if you are fairly careful and have clean water, but with a monthly external he is probably just detailing after filming finishes as I don’t think @Luke dog ears his Ettore channels? :face_with_monocle: )
I would say roughly 90% of my tops don’t need detailing for regular commercial but usually my ocd kicks in and I can’t help but detail them just in case.
@Stoneface Your enthusiasm is awesome but don’t forget @Luke has been cleaning windows for a while now and it didn’t just happen over night.
Honestly you just need to practise, practice, practice and stop thinking you can or should be able to do what someone with so much more experience does within such a short timeframe!

Hey guys :sunglasses:

Ice storm in KC today …how is it in your neck of the woods?

I dont detail my pole work and I’m pretty sure @SteveO dosent either. 3 things allow me to do this.

  1. How far the rubber is hanging from the channel. I have very little over hang.
  2. By not jamming the tool into the sides. I do go all the way to the edge by try not to force a ton of solution into the frames.
  3. Experience. I mainly do pole work every day. Reanna does all the bottoms for the most part. So I get tons and tons of daily practice. And I’ve been doing this for years.

Like @Lewsqueegee said, practice practice and more practice. You will get it.

O and it’s a standard stainless steel Ettore channel.

The trick is to have the leading edge always at an acute angle to the frame i.e. not just for ‘divebombing’ but for top of frame also. That way you mimic the Liquidator channel by having always a sharp tip against the frame. All Moerman did was to make a precut sharp tip so an acute blade angle is less critical. The sharp leading edge of a square cut rubber when angled this way drives water away. A square sweep traps water and makes detailing necessary.

Thanks guys.

@Luke, is the standard stainless steel Ettore channel the one you can buy at Lowe’s?

The one at Lowe’s is a softer aluminum. I’ll get those just when I’m broke and need a new rubber for the day. Lol! Lowe’s doesn’t carry just rubbers, so I’ll yank it out and put it in my unger.

Home Depot carries Unger rubber. Just an FYI.

Hmmm… I didn’t know that, I moved here 9yrs ago and Home Depot is just twice the distance as Lowe’s so I’ve stuck with the same store for the most part. Lol! I’ll have to check one day, I’m getting low on rubbers now.

Everything Luke said is right on. No substitute for repetition! Also please guys don’t buy tools from those big box stores. They are designed for homeowner use and won’t last a month out in the trenches.

Agreed! I was just saying I’ve gotten those cheap ettore squeegees to steal the rubber from when I’ve been desperately broke in the past, been a while since I’ve had to do that. I recommend ordering whatever you need. I actually hate Lowe’s and Home Depot lol!

Haha. They are ok in a pinch for like steel wool or white scrub pads.

It definitely takes time to get used to the tool, I love the excelerator mod. I never detail with it. I also begin learning with brass ettore so I know exactly how to use them with minimal detailing

Luke, why did you decide to MOD your Moerman to Ettore channel?

We prefer an ettore channel over the liquidator
