How do you remove tint

I looked this up, but there really wasn’t anything anyone said in the posts, so I’m reposting it. I did an estimate on a bar a few weeks ago and the guy was going to hold onto the estimate until after a remodel, but then he eMailed me today asking for an estimate on removing the tint on his windows. It’s all the top panes on the front of JB’s as shown in the photo.

I don’t have the first doggoned clue as to how to do this, so anything would be helpful. If someone can layout how to do it - like a step-by-step - and maybe give me an idea of how much you charge for something like this I would really appreciate it. I know pricing varies by area, but I have no clue at all.

It’s not easy or fun. I usually start with a knife at the corner to get it started (careful not to scratch) then pull the whole sheet off. It should leave a residue on the glass, get it nice and soapy, then scrape. After that, you’re now ready to proceed with typical cleaning.—If it’s old tint or on sunny side windows, it could be baked (just the way I describe it) meaning that when you try to pull the whole sheet, it will crack and not come in one piece. This requires a bit more work, but you still can scrape it off. (When I mention scraping, always remember your usual risks of using a scraper) I recommend at least double pricing. It can seem high but it’s a one time fee for extra work. Hope this is helpful Rowdy, good luck man!

We talked earlier, we charge at least 95.00 hr. for tint removal. Nobody want to do it, so…hope it works out.

Btw, when I said double on pricing, I had in mind double residential pricing. Don’t discount something like this or you’ll just be cutting yourself short. Simply Kentuckys price is pretty much on point with what I had in mind.

The easiest way that works for me is using a steam cleaner. It comes off alot easier and your hourly rate goes up!

Yeah, I talked to @SimplyCleanKentucky. I posted this question before we talked. Thank you for all of your help.

I agree with @SimplyCleanKentucky.

Charge a lot. Try to be anywhere from $75.00 - $100.00 an hour. Its very hard work and can take awhile.
