Heavy oxidation on aluminum clad windows

I’ve had to horrible experiences with aluminum clad windows. The paint turned to milk and ran down the glass and it created such a headache for myself and we lost every bit of profit on this job trying to make the windows look good. My water fed pole didn’t work and using my mop and squeegee wasn’t any better. What’s your experience

Over the years I basically water fed the frames till no more bleeding, it will stop but frustrating. A lot of times I will do those when their that bad traditionally and be careful not to run the mop all over the seals. Pain in the but and you have to detail very carefully or that stuff spreads and dries something awful.

And I completely agree with @SimplyCleanKentucky.

If I notice that they even might be oxidized I’ll try to not hit the frames. This works but not on really dirty glass. You’ll need to get to the side and corners really well…thus most likely hitting the frames.

Another thing we do is, get the window wet with the mop but detail the corners and sides with the steel wool. We just try to not let that mop soak the frames. If real dirty like @luke said, not a lot you can do, you will get some of the frame wet.

O whoops …lol I thought we were talking pure water

Busy here today. We went under contract on our home as of yesterday. So between that and being busy :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: I feel a bit scattered today.

We were talking about both @Luke. What to do in either case. Congratulations on your home, exciting!

I was told by a customer to spray One Restore on the brush to remove the oxidation faster. We did and it works great.

My apartment has similar frames. The first time I tested my WFP I did my own windows and I thought it was junk. I have to clean my windows by hand. Fortunately though I haven’t had this prob on a clients home. Each job I do, I’ll clean a handful of windows and then inspection. No, they’re not completely dry yet, but I can see how they’re drying. If there’s spots, I double check my TDS if that’s good, and I still get spots, I’ll go back to the squeegee.

I haven’t tried John lees suggestion though. That might get it.
