We got a forecast for just a ton of bad weather last weekend. Nearly two weeks straight of rain. I used to love the rain, but not any longer. I was booked up for a week which is pretty great for me, though it’s lay back for plenty of you.
My question is, “How do you handle it when you’ve got jobs to get done that you can’t do because it is raining or there is some other deterrent?” I was out on Friday cleaning a roof/gutter I was scheduled for and I was giving it the college try with it pour down on me, lightening and all. I was trying like crazy to get it done, but just couldn’t. It’s rained so many of the past several days and we’re coming to the end of it now. What do you do?
Well until you mentioned lightning, I was gonna say, some gutter jobs, I actually like doing in the rain, it helps to keep a good water flow. Yeah I get soaked but whatever.
Lightning scares the heck out of me though to be honest, it has ever since I saw it strike 20 yards away from me in Florida.
Sometimes you just gotta push jobs back, when I schedule, I tell people I’ll do it on such and such date, weather pending. I rarely have to change the date, but it happens. When biz is good, try to save up a bit so you can financially afford to do so.
I usually don’t book jobs on Friday’s so I have an overflow day. I still work 5 days a week. If the weather is good, you can move some jobs you’ve booked the week after to the friday. Tell the client an opening in your schedule has come up and you can get to them sooner. They usually go for it, and will appreciate you keeping them in mind.

I feel your pain! I was booked up for the next two weeks and now it is like lightning and full downpour here in Utah. It totally messed up our schedule.
Gutter cleaning! I bought these super cheap rain suites from Home depot! Yellow, $18. Best money ever spent!
Iv been working on my marketing when I cannot do any jobs due to weather. Also organizing video playlist on youtube for my new trainees.
