Gutters in the winter

Here in Wisconsin, winter came super early. Gutters froze, thawed out then froze again. It’s not worth the hassle and risk trying to break up the ice. You may risk puncturing the gutter. It’s simply inefficient. You might as well return when it’s warmer out. Also, while using that attachment seems like a good idea, how would you unclog a downspout? Does that attachment work for downspouts?
