Gutter cleaning season!

Gutter cleaning season is in full swing! How do you guys charge and how do you approach clearing the junk from the gutters?

It depends on the client and where they are located. If they are in a wooded area and they dont have much for a lawn, they usually ask if I can use a leaf blower to clear the gutters. If its anywhere else, I just pick stuff out by hand. The downspout I have used whats similar to a plumber snake maybe once. I run a hose from the top of the spout to clear it out. If I see water, I move on to the next spout. If the snake or running the hose doesnt work at first, then I will use a leafblower on the bottom of the spout and it at least moves out whats stuck from the spout to the top or just blows it out. Then I use a hose after.

At my pricing, I believe I can solve the problem, so I start my packaging at $79.99 for a whole first floor home that I can do in an hour. For 2nd story, I start at 119.99 for about an hour. I have not done more than 10 so far this year since I introduced it a few months back. But its a nice chunk of change to add for any cleaner, and anybody can add it on very quickly if they have the right ladder.

Most I have received for gutters is $149.99 and I beat someone in the market who offered the homeowners cleaning for 40 dollars. I actually recently beat someone who offered to do a house window cleaning and gutters for 200-ish and it should have been around 350-425. I sold for 600 total.

We use buckets, red gutter scoop, contractor bags and gloves. I have an Ego 520 cfm blower with 3 batteries. If it is dry, then we blow it out. If it is wet then we have to scoop.

I also have a white scrub pad/pad holder on a wooden pole to push stuff thru that is clogged. I also have a special pvc pipe tool that I made to jet blast clogged downspouts.

The pricing varies depending on who the client is and what is being done. For example, if it is a regular client adding on gutter cleaning to regular window service that is different than a call to come clean out a clogged gutter. Usually an instance like that is a trip charge plus either time and materials or per foot price.

Also, we have 2 gutter seasons here. Springtime for pollen, acorns and pine needles. Fall for leaves, twigs and branches. Gutter cleaning can get nasty…

I’d love to see that PVC tool!

We hand scoop the gutters, flush downspouts. cost is 1.00 per ft. with a min. of $125 for a ranch, 1.25 per ft… $200 min. for 2 story, and 2.00 per ft., $300 min for 3 story.
