Good video. And…very real, I could feel the numb fingers and hurting fingernails. Currently everything frozen here in Finland, takes an impact hammer to clean gutters. I usually do it with rope and harness, but then again, there is that unique feeling leaning into the void. And often you can’t find anything to anchor yourself into. Good speech about the starting business, I am starting all over again, moved into another town, and spend time getting new clients. Kind of trust myself, because I have done it once, but it is always a climb up the hill. Anyways, thanks, boosted my spirit.

I have heard people melt ice dams with just steam. I’m wondering if that is a good alternative to a impact hammer. I’m just thinking if there is too much force and the gutter is not on correctly or just older, that it might come flying off.

Thanks for you post, Jacob. Steam would probably be the way to go. I only have a small Karcher steam washer, which will not be enough to convince anyone. It is for cleaning floors, and thawing the odd freezer for clients. The actual problem with gutters is that the accumulated debris also insulates the ice, therefore -1C is enough to freeze it, but it needs +4 to thawing, something like that. And yes, any extra force will end up on me paying new gutters… I kinda want to twist their arms to clean them in the fall, even with leaves still on trees. Same thing with leaf cleanup, we just don’t have that crisp sunny, dry weather in the fall anymore. You have your soaking wet leaves, or frozen ground. My BCS can pick up soaking wet leaves, but again, people want to wait for the last leaves, and the concept of doing something while it’s good just doesn’t compute. So: Pricing will tell people what to do. Cleanup done before such-and-such date will cost you xxdollars. Anything after that, price goes up.

This part was great! “Everyone learns from Luke and Steveo, not from Jordie” Lol!

Such a delayed response to you posting but great video!
I’ve been offering gutter cleaning since I first started out, I love the quick money you can make with it. The gutters I had a problem with were completely frozen, no water mixed in so they were pretty solid. I ended up just waiting til the snow and ice all thawed out before I got it done.

Great advice on pretty much everything else, Especially on the pricing and hourly rates per job. I agree 100%

Thanks @TheWindowCleanse
