Hello everyone. I’m looking at starting a window cleaning business and one question/concern that I have is how to clean exterior windows on the 2nd floor. I would have basic equipment as a beginner.
If I can get to the window by standing on the roof great, but otherwise it would be me a ladder.
Do you go face to face with the window all the way up the ladder or halfway up and use a pole?
Thank you!

Face to window. Try not to use a pole while you’re on a ladder. Pole work usually requires 2 hands, it’s not really a safe practice, and easy to lose you’re balance.

If you have to use a ladder, get stand off stabilizers like this one. I use this one because it is removable so when I have my ladder stored on the top of my truck, the legs do not stick out into other lanes of traffic.
I also have a leg leveler for when I have to set the ladder up on drastically uneven ground.
Face to glass is the best way, especially if you are doing a first time cleaning, or are just starting out. It allows you to see the results and allow you to correct mistakes. It takes a while to get a pole technique good enough to be confident in your results with out inspecting it up close. It is also better to do it during maintenance cleanings rather than initial since you are cleaning lighter accumulations of dust and dirt rather than caked on grime, etc.

Thank you so much for giving me that advice and info and taking the time to add the links to the products! I’m definitely going to purchase these with my ladder. The ladder/safety part is my biggest concern so this will definitely ease my mind. Great info on why and when fave to window is important!
@GSARMedic which ladder do you use because n the Lowes website it says that the leg leveler is for MT series ladders and the stand off stabilizer is not for MT series ladders?
Leg levelers can be great and many people love them, but if you happen to hate them (just my opinion. Lol!) I do great with the Pivot wedge block. It works great for most unlevel applications.

I have a basic werner 22ft extension ladder. I have no idea what series or model as all the stickers are worn off at this point.
