Ettore clips and their purpose

Everyone…I just purchased the Moerman excelerator 2.0 and I have to say, I LOVE being able to switch angles. I also just tried fanning with the pole and wow what a game changer. I have found though that while using an Ettore brass channel, my rubber moves a lot. Are the brass clips supposed to help with keeping the rubber from moving, like folding in, or just from sliding within the channel?

Yeah, that’s what the clips are for. The moerman handle should bit into the rubber but it’s the end clips that also help hold the rubber in the moerman channel.

Oh okay…I actually bought just the handle and am using an Ettore brass channel, like @Luke and @SteveO have shown and modified it.

Just curious, does the ettore brass channel allow the teeth to bite in? The pics online don’t show the grooves like are in the unger stainless that I use.

No. Nor does the Unger brass channel. It just happens that the Unger steel channel’s shaped indents fit the teeth on the Moerman handle.

I have not tried this conversion yet, plan on doing so soon!
Many years ago we started leaving 1 of 2 brass end clips off of Ettore squeegee and have had no performance issues.

Can someone itemize a parts list for this set up?

Thanks

I cut just the tips of the teeth off, but also heard you don’t have to cut them, the Ettore brass will still fit snug👍

Okay, I think I may have confused everyone due to my extraneous info on my original post. I am initially talking about the clips that bite into the rubber and you push into the channel. What is the overall purpose of those?

They hold the rubber in the channel!

If you don’t want to spend that $9.00 you can use toothpicks and jam them in the end and break them off so they don’t hang out past the end

Does it matter which color tooth picks. LOL

I put an Unger S channel in a wagtail orbital handle which has no teeth so to keep the rubber in place I just cut a 3/4 inch section of nylon cable tie (zip tie) and push it in behind the rubber.

Works just as well as the clips but also gives that little extra pressure at the ends which helps with minimizing detailing - obviously it’s a thin zip tie and it pushes the rubber forward very slightly - not like Liquidator clips which can get grippy and cause drag.
