Does anyone else get a little depressed when its gets slow … During the winter it slows down a little and I was overwhelmed with some depression… Things are picking up quickly and I feel pretty good, my phone is ringing … Im not looking for sympathy here just figured id ask… Being a business owner is tough sometimes… Last year I stayed busy during winter but it slowed down alot this year and I beat myself up a bit over it… So far this spring is looking great and I feel good and Im ready for whatever comes my way…
Depression sucks man, you’re definitely not alone. I’ve got a good bit of experience with that. Maybe you can try to find something between now and next winter to keep you busy during down time. Just a suggestion, I know I’m not just gonna fix it for you. I’m glad it’s picking back up for you now.
Keep looking forward and keep your head up!
Jacksmackpwc thanks I really appreciate it … Im definitely going to make changes so I can stay busy during winter … Selling jobs and making money can be addictive and watching things slow down and customers pausing service sucked … I dont use contracts unless the customer needs it for corporate … Im going to implement systems to make it harder to pause services during winter and give them an option to space service out rather than cut it completely…
I think it happens to everyone. I try scheduling large projects for myself in the winter for the buisness. Keeps ya busy.
Feeling Good podcast is amazing. It’s about TEAM-CBT.
Basically, it’s about how it’s not the situation or event (lack of work/stir craziness) that makes us depressed, but our thoughts about the situation.
It shows methods of analyzing the negative/self-defeating thoughts associated with the upsetting or numbing event so you can form a rational response to it.
It’s very well studied and is expanding in its application constantly. I find the podcast very interesting and generally upbuilding to listen to.
