Crud between panes

I’ve got a FedEx terminal that wants me to clean their windows, but found out the dirt fogginess they thought was on their windows in actually in their windows, between the panes. Is there any way to fix them or remedy it?

Window replacement. What you’re describing sounds like broken seals. Double pane insulated windows are vacuum sealed and I think contain some type of gas inside. Once the seal leaks, the gas leaks out and moisture gets inside. This can present itself as a foggy mist over the entire pane, or spots/ streaks all over.

I’ve been told there are YouTube videos on how to fix this but, I DONT RECOMMEND IT. Unless they are storm panes that can be disassembled and cleaned. all you should do is explain that the seals are broken and the only true way to fix it is replacement.

You can really only clean the exterior surfaces of each window.

Broken seals make windows look like :poop:but it really common to find.

When cleaning residential, this is something I always look for during my initial quote simply so I can properly set the homeowners expectations of what in this case, can’t be fixed by cleaning.

Thanks.

Yeah, nothing you can do there but make sure you set their expectations straight. Explain exactly their problem, then see if they still want them done, I’m sure not all of the windows are like that. Go from there with it…most understand.

There are a few companies that can clean between the panes. It is a real pain and I have done it. To much liability and the results are not always the best. Also not all windows can be done like tempered glass.
