Business License for Multiple Skills

I’d like to get some feedback on the possibility of setting up a business license that covers more than window cleaning and cleaning services in general. I’ve heard of window cleaners who also do landscaping for example and work under one business license. Eg. XYZ Professional Services on the business license. I’m trying to keep from the added expense of getting 3 different licenses, logos, websites etc. to cover the additional skills I’m using for clients other than window cleaning. Any thoughts from those of you who may have this kind business model setup would be appreciated.

If its all under one company name shouldn’t be a problem. When applying for your annual business license, make sure you list all aspects, but pretty sure any municipalities don’t really care as long as the list of services is complete and they get their fee. Make sure you set up your insurance that will cover all aspects of your business, and any workers comp needs to encompass all aspects. You wont be covered if you have an accident window cleaning up and down a ladder but your list of services is only landscaping.

Thank you for the feedback Ryan. Very helpful. EM

I was thinking about doing the same thing but the only problem I see with this l and I may be wrong, is that if you don’t register the window cleaning business with the state then you can’t make a separate business listing on Google. But obviously you can include that service in your current website and people can see it that way. I’m thinking of keeping the 2 separate and hope that will bring more business but would love to avoid paying any extra.

The google thing can be annoying but whenever you are running paid ads, you can make them say pretty much whatever you want, just make sure your website or landing page shows clearly right at the start all the different services you offer.
