Anderson windows have a film left on them

I have a house that I clean the windows in. They have Anderson windows. When I clean the insides there is a film on the windows. It seems to be there after I clean the windows also. The owner of the home pointed it out to me. You can’t see it, the windows are clean. But if you take your finger or a rag and wipe the window you can see the film. Any ideas?
I did notice that they run a lot of essential oil diffusers in the house. And these will leave an oil film on things depending on the type of oil being used.

This is a common but traceable issue. Usually internal fogs, haze or films can be traced back to what’s actually going on inside the home. Diffusers are heavily distributing oils and that can eventually make it’s way to the glass. If anything I’d point that out as a possible issue. Other than that it’s hard to say what it is, perhaps some glass surfaces dont react well to your solution but that couldn’t be the problem because then your talking a chemicals issue not a glass issue.

This does bring up a question for me maybe that @Johnlee can answer. I’ve ran in to similar issues before but not with oil diffusers. There has been a film that seemed impossible to get off. This was back when I was cleaning carpets too so I ended up using a high volatile aerosol carpet spot cleaner (tested on glass first) this worked great at removing the film. John, do you recommend any products for this?

Have seen this with people who smoke in the house and have kerosene heaters. We have a product called Titan Green that works great on these situations. Call me to order it 865-310-0728

I have seen it just on very rare windows. Non-smoker, no oils, clean house, nice windows, just a weird film NOT from soap or anything different than all the other of the houses I’ve done. One house out of the hundreds and hundreds I’ve done did this. I’d have to do the windows in full sun, squeegee the window, and use the sun to check for film. I’d then hit it with a clean huck. No problems after that first call back which was done not in full sun so I couldn’t see the problem.

I have never figured out why that one house and those specific windows do that.

Right, that was the case I was thinking of. No smoke or oils. They were a small set of brand new windows, almost seemed like a silicone type film. Super tough to get off.

Did you try using steel wool?

Could not use steel wool. Every window is tinted.

In my case too, steel wool was no help. Not cuz of tint but it just seemed like a film that would keep smearing. I tried GG, dawn, and even windex. The high volatile carpet spot cleaner got it perfect in that case.

I’m familiar with smoke covered windows, they’re tough but you can get them done. I haven’t used smoke specific products, I just don’t come across them often enough.
