Pricing in Phoenix Az

So I am fairly new to Window cleaning. I’ve been trying to do a lot of research and market research in my area and I’m coming up with a lot of mixed information.
I own a handyman business with multiple employees and have hit a growth wall. We are adding window and solar cleaning to are list of things we offer. If we can get the pricing right we may just open a DBA for just window and solar cleaning.

  • First question I have is do you price a slider window and a double hung window and one window?

  • is it best to charge by the window or the pain?

  • When starting out with window cleaning is it best to quote over the phone and play the odds or spend the extra time to go to the customers house and do a quote when doing residential?

Thank you for all your help in advance.

I’ve used this before to just help get us around the perfect price point for different things. And we always like to go out to the customer and take a look at the job. You don’t want to get there and be surprised by anything.

Thank you so much. This seems to be a great start. On average how long does it take to clean 20 windows inside and out on a single story’s with cleaning seals and screens?

A safe estimate would probably be around 45 minutes to 1 hour. We try to stay around 2 minutes a window and that without cleaning screens

Being fairly new also (4 months in) I would say that what matters the most is customer satisfaction at first. The customer isn’t going to want to talk about how much each window cost. They simply want your total price, and for you to do a great job with a great attitude. I wouldn’t recommend doing a 1 hour job on 20 windows. I would take your time to get it right, and inside out with sills and screens will take you 3 hours. I recommend driving out there to quote the first 5 homes because my experience was running into hard water, bushes completely covering windows (no room to walk in between), and people counting triple french panes as “1 window” over the phone.

Don’t be the cheap guy who acts desperate to land a job. Be the guy who quotes high, under promises, and over delivers. Then mail out thank you cards and remind people to leave you a review.
