Introduce yourself!

Welcome all new window cleaners.

Hi all
I live and work in New Zealand. Started window cleaning in the UK many years ago and had the chance to start out on my own here in NZ 5 years ago. Haven’t looked back since and now turning work away.
Work here is slightly different from the US by look of things. We don’t have storm windows and screens, most houses are single story but newer houses are going two storey which is great for pole work.
I use Gardiner poles and wagtail equipment. Tried moerman gear recently but found it really increased some carpal tunnel issues in both wrists so reverted to wagtail and now have no pain. We’ve just had our winter which was incredibly dry and warm so we can work basically all 12 months of the year. Oct to December is my biggest income season so onwards and upwards.

Don’t forget, every day may not be good but there’s good in every day. Just gotta spot it and grab it and then pass it on to someone else.
Cheers y’all

Another trick to use is when you’ve done a job and done it well go and see the other neighbors either side and the one across the street (if there is one). Quick intro then “I’ve just cleaned the house next door/opposite. When you get a chance pop over and see how they look. Then give me a ring (give them your business card) and I’ll come and give you your free quote” in other words, let your work and the client sell your business for you. Word of mouth is by far the best means of getting leads and all you’re doing here is directing neighbours to go and see your work. If the client is happy then they will tell their neighbours for you. Just a thought.

Hey guys, completely new to window cleaning but I’m hoping to order a few things and practice on my own house before I start taking on clients. I currently work as an animal trapper so I’m used to going into people’s homes and business’s and selling them on our services. I’m hoping that will help me in this business. Looking to start on the weekends and as I build accounts step away from my trapping job and start my own window cleaning business full time.

Hi everyone, my name is Shaun and I am from Springfield, MO. As Luke said to me from before “midwest life!”. But seriously I am just getting started with window cleaning and have utilized a ton of Luke and Reanna’s videos to help me with my technique etc. Got a couple of commercial customers but it is definitely a challenge to get them. Im here to be more involved in the WC community and to gather any advice and knowledge I can.

Welcome Shaun. Good luck. Are you anywhere remotely close to Luke and Reanna? Dude if you are I would see if they will let you work a few days with them. That would be awesome if you did that!

Thanks M_Lewis. Yeah they are in KC, which is about 3 hours away. That thought has crossed my mind haha, but I would definitely need to up my game before I could roll with them.

Work with them, buy their lunch, take em to dinner, buy them a beer = time well spent IMO

Of course I’ll let them get to know me before I ask to visit.

Hey welcome @Absoluteshine!

We are happy that our videos have helped out some. We are a bit busy right now for a day to work together. But let’s stay connected and see what happens in the winter . Sound good? In the meantime we are happy to help how we can. There are several other very knowledgeable and helpful folks on here as well.

Sounds great! Just happy to be part of the group, thanks.

So how long have you been cleaning windows now? Are you still employed at another job?

I had been thinking about doing it since the beginning of the year because I wanted to do something different and have my own business. I finally took the plunge and got set up this summer looking to get residential customers, had a few quote requests but no sales yet. I recently got a couple of commercial customers. Yes I keep a full time job while working on my business on the side (on my days off).
