Luke, I actually go through Liberty Mutual too. Do you guys use Joseph Walters Agency out in Ohio? I heard they are exclusive for window cleaners. I have a 2 million dollar policy that I pay about $125.00 per month for.
@Billwindow Hey there! I would carry at least 1 million in general liability. Don’t think of it as an expense, think of investment to a bunch of work you may have not been able to previously access. About 90% of the time I get asked if I have general liability. If you need it, see if you can get bonded as well, I know some places need you to be bonded too. You will stand out versus other cleaners who do not have general liability AND you can use that as leverage with bidding on new jobs. Also if you are claiming what you make, you can use that money as a deduction.
Workman’s Compensation you also need by law if you plan on hiring people on the table. When starting out though, you do not need it just for yourself but depending on where you live, you may be able to exempt yourself officially. Just worry about General Liability.
