Getting and pricing a chain store?

I want to get the chain stores and have been thinking about how to get the general manager information. I was actually thinking about having my dad go have a problem with a Wendy’s or something then throw a fit until they hook him up with a high up then get the number from him. I’m not sure how else to do it, do you guys have any information?

And when you do get a franchise/chain like this, how much do you ask for? Is it less because you’re doing more stores or more because it’s a more because it’s harder to get into? What do you recommend?

With chain stores each one operates different. Some let the individual mangers choose the service. Other have the district manager choose. Some use National companies which act as a middle man and sub out to local companies. I have worked with all of these types. The worst is National. Just ask the manager and they will gladly give you the information and contact numbers. Be prepared to bid low to win.

I was watching Luke’s videos and he says in one that he stays away from strip malls because you can’t make any money because they’re over ran with window washers. He said that he goes for the chain store because he wants security and decent pay. Is there some place you can go that is typically willing to pay more? Fill me in, man.

You’ll need to get out there and get you’re feet wet. Just grab a few hundred cards and do nothing but canvass for an entire day or two. You’ll start to get a good feel for it. Learning from your mistakes is best. I’m happy to help but real world trial and error imo is best.

I spent all day Thursday out. I live in a small town south of Joplin and hit every business in town then spent the rest of the day on houses. I got some good feedback from the business, but the people in the houses were assholes. Yesterday I took my dad to the doctor in Arkansas and it took all day, but on Monday I’ll go to Neosho then on Tuesday or Wednesday I’ll start into Joplin. Getting out there is going to be the roughest part of it. I mean just making the initial leap, but if you just keep your head down and don’t get bothered by every “no” then you’ll get the business I think. The homeowners I gave cards to looked at me like I was a retard. Like I was stupid for thinking they needed their windows cleaned. I think commercial may be the main breadwinner out this way.

Well if you think about you’re interrupting peoples home life. I’d look at you with a little disgust too. That’s why imo door hangers are a much better approach to residential.

I stuck cards behind the trim around their front doors. The people just saw me walking up and met me at the door.

Its going to take more than one day to get people to respond positively to you. Yes, you will get people that are instinctively act like jerks. Think about how the rest of us are with telemarketers, door to door and all sorts of sales approaches. If your selling and closing skills are not there yet, Luke is correct. Doorhangers would be the best bet. You are always going to interrupt people’s lives. Timing is never going to be perfect or ideal. However, some people may not even know it and may be waiting for that knock on the door. You have to come across as not sales like even though you basically have to. What are the objections you are facing? If its a lot of slamming of doors, not much you can do about that. If they are saying something but then waiting for you to respond, you have always have a shot to build rapport, trust and value in what you are doing.

You will find you have some towns and cities that are better than others. Even if you get one that you are really good in, that’s all you need. People will see you clean on the street and come up and ask for your business. If you are door knocking, you may find people are starting to let you in because they have interest in your service. If convinced enough of your value, anyone can get your service. If someone wants your service bad enough, they won’t use logic they will use emotion to be sold on you. They will max out their credit card or pay you money they dont have from someone who will let them borrow it because it meets their needs or they want to help you out. I had people buy from me because they liked talking to me and cared much less about the actual cleaning.

Keep going man. You developed such great skill in a short period of time, everyone is here to encourage each other. I don’t want you to ever give up.
